Parking Eye....Again

I was parked in Aldi car park, free for 2 hours, unfortunately I stayed for 2 1/2 hours on 12th Dec. Got first Parking charge notice on 24th Dec, I ignored it, got 2nd parking charge notice on 31st Dec (don't you just love their timing) I ignored that one too.
I have now received the 3rd charge notice for the full amount £70.00 with the note that I am no longer allowed to appeal as the 29 days have elapsed. They also say that they may recover via solicitors or court proceedings.
I have ignored everything so far, but I admit I am worrying about it all. I still intend to ignore everything, and will keep you posted on any further charges.
Thanks for all your advice, without it I would have just paid up.

  • Hi Jenk, iv'e had exactly the same only i tried to pay the £40 fine via visa on the telephone number supplied on the parking eye fine. i then got my 2nd bill a few days later so i contacted visa and was told no payments had been made. i now have the same letter as you asking for £70 with no chance to appeal or even contact them.. ie no telephone number supplied other than the payment line. as i tried to pay for the extra 10 minutes and failed due to a fault with their payments line i am taking the bill to Aldi in the mornin to see if they can get it cancelled. keep in touch and good luck

At least you found the advice first before coughing up and then finding that its only a begging letter.

Keep on ignoring, put this thread in your favourites and post back if you feelthe need to on any further letters from them.
You may click thanks if you found my advice useful

  • Hello, I had my parking eye letter yesterday. It's happened to me before outside morrisons in Margate. I looked them up on the net and took all the advise and ignored it that time. This time it was at the retail park in Aberystwyth. 21 minutes over. The letter has bpa and hpc logos on it. Can you tell ( in laymans terms ) if I should ignore it? Considering the new legislation on October 1st? This letter had a leaflet with it about the changes in the 'law'.

I have finally had my "FINAL NOTICE" from October in Scotland.

Forget about these plonkers, they're not worth fretting over.

I notice it's different from the previous letter chain and will try to post a redacted version later.

EDIT - the wording is below. I couldn't upload the original

    FINAL NOTICE

    EYE01 _2013

    Reference: XXXXXXX

    VRM:XXXXXXXX

Outstanding Parking Charge Amount Due: £85.00 (in large white letters in a black box)

In much smaller letters underneath it says " (Less any amount paid to date)"

Re: Parking Contravention at XXXXXX Retail Park Customer (yes, it does end on "customer")

    Pay Online at: https://www.parkingeye.co.uk/payments

    Pay by Phone: 0844 247 2981

Pay by Post: ParkingEye Ltd, PO Box 565, Chorley, PR6 6HT
(Write the Reference on the reverse of the cheque)

    Dear Sir / Madam

We note from our records that the previous two Parking Charge Notices we have sent you, which refer to the Parking Charge issued in accordance with the terms and conditions for parking at the XXXXXX RetailPark Customer car park on XXXX remain outstanding.

The amount now payable is £85.00. * This payment is required within 7 days or further action may be taken.

If this letter is ignored, further action may include instruction of solicitors to secure immediate payment or the issuing of court proceedings which could incur further costs which may be added to the amount owed. To avoid further unnecessary costs or action, please pay the outstanding parking charge amount as stated above or make arrangements for the driver to pay, in accordance with the parking terms and conditions.

    Yours faithfully,
    {Unreadable squiggle}

    What about it? Meaningless.
  • Hi. I've also had a notice since 13 December from Aldi in Bangor - the computer in the store wasn't working that day so couldn't enter registration. My mother told me to ignore the letters.. I'm still getting them... Shall I continue to ignore?
