Have you called some sols to ask how much they would charge? £250 may be adequate, depending on location, size of firm etc. I would get some figures before arguing that point further.0
-
I have to repeat, I don't think you are in a strong position argue very much.
Just to add, if you do want to argue this further then I think you best bet would be get a solicitor on board and get them to write to the firm. Obviously you would have to pay for this and it may or may not work. It is up to you if you are prepared to gamble.
If you just want a solicitor to do the minimum and get the agreement signed off at the lowest cost, I would Google for a firm who advertise this service. I THINK it can be done over the phone and by email without a fact to face meeting.0 -

You need to keep this in perspective. They are not being discourteous, they are being formal - given the breakdown in your relationship this is to be expected.
If you are in the NE you should be able to find a sol that will look over your agreement for £250.0 -

They are not going to fire you if you choose to accept the compromise agreement.0 -

Where on earth do you get that from.
Even if you sign the agreement that is on the table at the moment you have about £2K plus an agreed reference.
Based on what I read here I don't see you winning a tribunal for unfair dismissal. Even if you did I think the compensation would be minimal. The national average is only about £4500. You would then not get a reference or, if you did, they could still say "dismissed for what we considered to be gross misconduct"!
I really don't think anybody here can do much more. It is not the same as one to one advice on a professional basis. My view is you either accept or gamble some money on some professional help. If you do I hope it pays off.
If I hazard a guess, a few hundred pounds spent MAY show a modest profit in that it may squeeze another £500 to £1K out of them - but I only rate that guess at 60:40!0 -
Accept the agreement, and ask them to leave the reference blank.' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0

which is better than what i started out with - and i have you lovely people to thank for that.
thanks for all your help. you've all been great.0 -
Just a random point; where I work the only reference they give to anyone is NAME was employed between X and Y and held the position of Z.
They don't like to give any further info incase they are sued and this is a large organisation.
You could ask for that reference instead citing to future employers that they don't give details out it subjective opinions.
Good luck, if it were me I would take the money and run.0 -
