i need the cash unfortunately, looks like it might be worth getting the cash in the UK as it seems some ATM's in the US charge for withdrawals. thanks anyway!
In my experience the charge has been $1-$3
The improved exchange rate you will get should more than compensate for this.

It is nearly impossible to predict currency changes as they are driven by politics as as well as economics.

The ones we've used have, they say something like 'there is a charge of $x for withdrawing cash, do you wish to continue?' . I don't know if the charge is different for debit cards as we've only withdrawn cash using Halifax Clarity credit card.
I've been told there are some machines that don't charge but we've never found any.

thanks for your help, i'll be using the clarity too.
  • We are definitely suffering from a weak pound at the moment, $1.55. I can't see us ever getting back to atleast $1.58/1.59 for quite some time because at this moment in time, the UK looks like a shakey market at the moment.

Hopefully we'll have a stronger pound in the next few month!
