I would really like to know from anyone who has used a heat pump in a modern conservatory with efficient glazing etc. .

And at that point I think you leave us and ask on a more specialised forum, sorry.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I think you may be correct, thanks for all the help though everyone.
  • There is plenty of annecdotal evidence on air source heat pumps online and much of it will be from the US, Canada, New Zealand where these types of heating/cooling are popular.
The common theme you will find is they become hugely innefficient in many setting at lowers temps and it actually becomes more cost effective to use an alternative source of heat.

The better insulated the room being heated is obviously the better they will effectively work at keeping heat in that room, however any glass is not likely to be great at insulating however "clever" it is when comparing to an insulated roof

Personally unless you definitely need the air cooling I would go with a wet underfloor system with isolation from main house system and then accept you may require a blow / convector heater at certain times. That is however just a personal opinion

One interesting point about our Edwardian Style Conservatory that has puzzled me since we move in was the amount of vegetation that will grow in the gutters.

With us having a Bungalow the height of the eaves were not high enough to construct a lean to design, which do not look all that pretty I must say, so in turn we have two sloping roof structures, one being the Bungalow and the other being the Conservatory which is linked together with a 'Box-Gutter' design.

So this now creates a lovely water garden for wild plants to grow because the design is level and there is always water present within the gutters at all time unless we have a drought and then it dries up.

So today I checked the gutters only to find quite a lot of vegetation growin in the Box-Gutters that I will have to clean out very soon otherwise the vegetation will be seen from within the structure.

It seems that there is no other way of designing the guttering to empty fully I have been told, anyway I thought that you should be aware of this important job that ia an annual one otherwise it is so difficule to remove over the full length of 8metres.

Mine is eaxactly the same in design, they are known as dual hip, sloping down from a crest to all 4 sides.

That surprised me too, there was no provision to provide a fall to any side of the guttering. I don't appear to have the same issue as you but there again we had that much rain last year that nothing would have had a chance to gain a foothold.;)
