Evening chums ,blooming chilly here in Kent.I had a nice suprise this morning a phone call from a distant cousin in Perth Australia who has found me.Our gt,gt Granddads were brothers.I knew she was keen as I had had a phone call from my nephew in Lancashire to say its possible she would phone as he had spoken to her and he knows that I have stacks of information about the family going back to the late 1600s.It was lovely to hear from her and she was really buzzing.I couldn't believe it she was nattering for almost half an hour from Perth !!!god knows what that will cost her.I have been rummaging through my records and found lots of bits to send to her.
last night DGS Danny stuck his head around the door to have a shufti at my posh new bathroom,he agrees its the bees knees :):):)He asked if he can come down tomorrow morning for some cooking lessons ,bless him he wants to make a veggie curry and a chilli to portion up to go into his freezer at home as he works very long hours in west London and is never sure what time he will be home.So I sai no probs so I will be teaching him some home cooking skills which will help him no end.My eldest DD is quite a good cook but hate cooking for some reason and danbny has decided that he is going to learn from Granny and try it out on his pals.Fingers crossed all goes well.Trouble is I never follow a recipe and just tend to judge things by looking at them ,scales are rarely used in my house but then I have been cooking for over 50 years :):)
Right I'm off to put my feet up and have a bit of relaxation
Cheers chums keep wrapped up warm its still winter out there

    Evening
Still cold here but dry. Had productive day, as well as work which was a closure day so managed to catch up on quite a bit, also had my first appt at local NHS dentist, my neighbour goes there and said they were taking on new patients. Had check up and Xrays and only £17. Previously I was private, they were very good and very keen on preventative medicine but a check up and clean was £150!!! cant afford that anymore. Realised that would be near to L!dl so popped in there for weekly shop. DId quite well esp as didnt know where things were. Managed to get everything on my list, plus few extras for £41. Bought indredients to make Chow mein and egg fried rice, it was very tasty and about £12 saved.
Islandmaid, hope your Baxter ok, know how sad it is, they are one of the family.
Not much OS as been busy day, at least we didnt have takeaway, DW not full, WM will go on tomorrow when I have load of colours and one of lights, these will go on airer.
Agree with others who say BM not so good in cold weather, I actually have mine in living room where its warm and much better results (only while in use).

Going to look for a recipe for soup with carrots, DH turned up with a 5 kg bag yesterday, most of them I have peeled, blanched and frozen but I need to do something with the rest
Sistercas - I love carrot and coriander, or spicy carrot and lentil.

Late one from me. Worked all day, recruited 2 new students so now have a full quota for this group. No students today so just admin. Nice atmosphere in the office, lots of banter :).

After work I cleaned house and sorted out paperwork and bits. My Dad is coming round tomorrow to put up shelves and pictures for me.

OS wise - HM carrot&corriander soup taken for lunch, HM curry for tea, 3 portions of rice ready to freeze, laundry mountain put away, hoovered throughout, dishes washed, paperwork sorted, recycling sorted, last of dried goods shopping put away, kitchen cleaned, bathroom cleaned. Phew!!! :rotfl:

    Evening all.

I've been at work yesterday and today. It was really busy, and as a result I feel shattered now. I really don't know how I worked full time for so long, I'm not sure I could now.

Will go to bed early. The only good thing is that I sleep soundly on Friday nights.

Still cold here, and any snow has not got here yet, it may be rain anyway.

I'll get back to being OS tomorrow, too tired to move tonight!

    Hi all,

Finished work at 12. Today - went to Mr L,s for weekly shop, spent £46 that included wine and beer, it was DS1,s 19 th birthday this week and we,re celebrating this weekend.

I am £130 under budget this month, so chuffed, that will come off the CC as an extra payment.

Out for an indian tomorrow night its what DS1 wanted as his birthday prezzie, he,s year 3 apprentice and now tell,s me I spend far too much on them (kids) and doesn,t want a gift as he has everything he needs - okay who swapped my snotty toddler for this sensible young man!!!!!!

Bad news though, my lovely 15 year old westie, Baxter looks very wobbley, I feel really cruel, as he,s been sleeping for 2 days, but DS1 works away, and I want him to have a chance to say goodbye - Baxter does not appear to be in pain, but has been sleeping 23 out of 24 hours for past 2 days, i,ve been hand feeding him, got appointment with vet tomorrow morning, I think old age has finally caught up with him - hoping its not goodbye, but have prepared kids for the worst, just in case.

Hope your all okay - hugs to those who need them.

Have a fab day all xx[/QUOTE

    much love.
hi everyone, its our 7 year anniversary today.iv been really in pain.

    those who need themxxx
  • It was as I thought, my asthma is causing my diaphragm to contract which is squeezing the hernia she has put me on steroids plus I have to nebulise four times a day and I have to go back next week :(
I have an opticians appointment on Monday morning, so more money to pay out especially as my prescription is so complex, then at some point I have to make a dentist appointment as well.
We have the car tax and MOT in March, thank goodness my freezer and cupboards are well stocked and we are free of CT and Water rates in Feb/March.
Then PIP in April   .

Islandmaid sorry to hear that Baxter is not well ((((Hugs)))).
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
