Hmmm... I've lost the plot the last few days and *think* I'm over budget and have run out of cat biscuit already. Argh!
Not sure if I should increase the budget next month or not as I knew £100 was pretty ambitious. Hmmm
Well tonight's fun will be starting a new 'beginning of month mega stock up' list. Will be trying to incorporate some new Mr T's vouchures too into the shop to collect my CC points for next years holiday. If I can't spend it yet, I may as well plan too :rotfl:April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
I daren't even look at how much I've spent this month - it all went horribly wrong from the end of the first week - I had all my money divided into different purses, but then forgot one and robbed from another, and forgot to pay back and then they were all empty - and then I went into major free-fall.... the really scary thing is that I don't have anything concrete to show for it - so I guess that has proved something in itself. I am putting May down to experience - ie don't be such a smug smart-a**e just because you've managed to do one month within budget. Funnily enough, as well as the budget going into free-fall so has the housework... I think that says it all.
Is it June yet?
At least the Archers had kind of a happy ending this week....Is it home time yet?0 -
was going to cheat and not tell I had thrown away a whole coriander plant without ever using it, do it all the time. =68p 3/4 pack of chocolate digestives=35p. That makes £6.59 in a few days, shocking waste:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

3/4 pack of chocolate digestives=35p.
could you have used them in some sort of fridge biscuity thing? Sorry cant think of the name, but my aunt used to make something from crushed biscuits and choc and other stuff - very sweet but very nice
I'm not criticising you btw. I am desparately trying to follow your lead but am nowhere near as good as you at keeping track of what I waste. Must do better!!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Last Sunday update for me this month. I didn't need to survive the whole week on the £8 cash I had left 'cos I found £23 that I'd hidden from myself - for what reason I can't remember- and that's all but gone.
I haven't updated my sig yet bet I think its close to £90. A whole £30 knocked off my budget of £120 but it's been a struggle this week and June doesn't start til Friday for me. The cupboards are bare, the freezer is bleak, but I've used up all the things I wish I'd never bought.
Teedy, re-your whole corriander plant.. I try and plant the supermarket 'living herbs' things outside once I'm done with them. last year I had a dill, a basil and a corriander for several weeks. Infact I'm sure the huge chives and parsley in the garden are last years 50p reduceds or whatever.
I'll come clean and say I threw out a bag load of HM meatballs, didn't enjoy them, probably a couple of £ of ingredients?
Well done to all who managed to come within budget, live and learn those who went over.
See you on the June thread. One debt v 100 days Part 14 £400/£400

Just wanted to say that I've come in under budget this month, I'm really pleased that I've managed it :T It's not been too difficult, I've been buying a few more value items and have cooked everything from scratch, I've been very organised and made menus before shopping and stuck to my shopping list, I've also found that shopping alone has helped.
Right, it's time to start another month now0 -
My first months budget and I spent £235.50 on shopping for the whole month :T Anyone reading my previous posts will know prior to May we used to spend between £450 - £500 per month on food, and a lot of that ended up being wasted and we were spending more than we needed to or could afford! So I've just about halved what we spend on food in one month and I'm sure I can reduce it more!
The best thing is I've been able to stun hubby this morning (recall he said I'd never be able to do it, rag to a bull that challenge lol!) well he just learnt that not only had I come in well under budget, I'd bought a coffee maker, a frugal recipe book and produced the amount we were short to renew our annual national trust membership, his face was a picture :rotfl:
He said the food has been nicer this month as well, he's getting used to the cakes and puds (only ever occasionally baked prior to our new OS lifestyle). I don't mean to brag or rub it in to those who burst their budgets, but I'm feeling really proud of myself, I didn't think I could do it but I didI never managed to leave some money for my dream holiday fund, but I did get some treats and I can do that next month! I'm off to the June GC now to sign up. Good luck everyone for next month

Spent £7.14 more of my bf's and my budget. We only need to get by untill the 31st so I can't see any need for any more spending now!
Food budget for month of May for 2 people = £80.
Spent of budget = £46.14.
Left of budget = £33.86!! :T
Odd this as I usualy have a budget of £40 for myself for food. We have been eating alot of the freezer foods and using tins we already had and that but still!! We still have alot of food to use up that is in the freezer as well. I guess you don't notice it untill you are in a bind. Will be making sure we use up food we already have from now on as it will certainly help us. I used to think we were so good too with what we bought :rotfl: .I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0
