Royal Mail - Praise (for once)

Just a quick bit of praise for Royal Mail on their international delivery.

Sent on Tuesday morning, arrived in Georgia by Wednesday, delivered Friday, and sent back to us yesterday afternoon.

It's the quickest turnaround yet on international delivery, and has solved the problem of a large contract within (hopefully) a week!

  • I've taken to sending things back to the UK international registered because I just don't trust them. Seems I am taking too many precautions, what great news!

It was sent signed for, as I'm not one to let commercially sensitive information for anyone to open. It wasn't tracked, and I'm amazed by the turnaround speed!

Actually, the praise should be for the Georgian postal service equally, if not more, than RM as they are the ones who were mostly responsible for this impressive turnaround.

It was they who received, sorted, delivered and returned quickly.

Ws it Georgia, USofA or Georgia, former USSR?

The one that I was born in (USSR).

The Georgian postal system is still using the Soviet way of going things (even the vans, although repainted, are the USSR stuff), and they have a habit of getting everything anywhere in the country within 24 hours. Russia can do the same within 72 hours (we tested this on a letter sent from Nadkodka, which reached the office by day 4. I don't know how it's done, but it works.

Hopefully speaking, this will be back with us by Tuesday at the latest, as I'm seeing the bank on Weds anyway!

Perhaps they could take over Royal Mail? I've just received a first class letter from 4 miles away that 's taken since Monday to get here. And we've no snow to blame for the delay.

Why would 4 miles away matter?
When did 'local' post' last exist?

    In the sorting office.

Eg Newcastle would sort mail going anywhere but the 'local post' (with an NE postcode) is sorted into local delivery rounds.
