Virgin Mobile - will I lose my discount if I change package?

I am on a Virgin Mobile SIM only contract. I pay £15 per month and when I signed up last year I had a choice of 200 mins and 500 texts OR 300mins/300texts.

I chose 200mins/500texts as that suited me better at the time. However I'm now finding that I'm talking a bit more and texting less.

I would prefer to swap to 300mins/300texts but the cost of each package has now gone up to £20 a month as I took advantage of a launch offer when I signed up to get it for £15.

I just need to know would I be able to swap to 300/300 and still pay £15 or will I lose my discount and be charged £20?

I woudnt see it is a problem for you to change, having worked for V.M (Ntl) then they will change you over without changing your price upto £20 per month, dial 789 from your mobile and speak to C.S, ask them to change you over and if the first person you speak to doesnt then just say fair enough and ring again. Its a free call and somebody will change you over.

Jay how do I call 789 for free as I normally get charged 10p per call?
  • Well I've rang the Virgin team a few times now and had the same response every time "we can only give you 300mins + 300 texts for £20p.m. - there's no option on our system to let you keep your discount of £15p.m."

I tried telling them it wasn't worth me paying £20 to Virgin for 300 mins when I can get 400mins sim only from O2 for the same price but they still wouldn't budge. Problem is I'm getting free broadband off them until Feburary so can't leave until then.

    Any ideas anyone?

Sounds like they're not going to budge. So you'll have to keep the contract you've got until Feb
  • It's just so frustrating as I only want about 300 mins a month. I tried to explain to them that surely it's in both of our interests to swap me over to what is effectively a bundle of the tier at the same price (which I was offered when first signing up) than lose my custom but it was just a case of "We'd like to help you but........"Computer Says No!"

Or you could pay the extra £5 and use MSE to make/save that amount. Have you tried daily clicks? or matched betting?!
