well just had my hamper delivered and instead of the ultimate choc hamper that I ordered and paid for I got a small chocoholic hamper have just got off the phone and they told me they had to substitute as the ultimate one was oos well plenty people ordered after me so be warned
when I said I ordered the £150 hamper so why sub with a small hamper nowhere near the same value she said well you did only pay £38.95 sarky sod!!and the hamper we sent you has a value of £50 I said the contents are nowhere near worth £50 in my opinion and that I wouldn't have ordered it she said she will ring me later today when she has sorted out a collection:( I am so mad this is just yet another cockup from thorntons and there customer service is terrible rant over!!!!!
I orded on the morning of the 30th Jan so lets see how many reply who have received the ultimate one but ordered after me
Thorntons have been employing these bait and switch tactics for years. A couple of years ago they did the same trick with me and many others on here - switched an expensive hamper for a much cheaper one. Customer services were just as sarky back then.
I have never ordered from them since and I never will again. They do not deserve the trade.0 -
And way overpriced too!0

I agree. I ordered a Christmas hamper a couple of years ago as a gift. It arrived end of Jan after several phone calls and no apologies from unhelpful CS0 -
Just got in from work and my Thorntons hamper has come.
Was dreading opening it but now that i have i am very happy.:)
I am sorry to those who didn't get what they ordered
and i really thought i was going to be one of you but most of it is there and the items that are not have been substituted.
I didn't get the classics collection but instead got a bigger dessert chocs than advertised and an additional toffee box.
No chocolate reindeer, 2 father christmas's instead
No whisky truffles, 2 bags brazil nuts and 2 bags turkish delight instead.
All the dates are longer than advertised too, most are May/June but the lollies are 2014.:)0 -

Got the £10 end of season box which is excellent value but the £50 hamper ( reduced to £40 ) was never worth £50.travelover0

Sorry to read about your order, supermum4.
I received my parcel today. I ordered "I love chocolate" hamper £17 with codes &free delivery and it is what it says on the tin 100%.
I compared the list of items and they are all the same. I think it is a good value as I got 7 items; There are 3 small packs (2 bags and a choc block which are 3 for £5 in my local Thorntons shop) but the rest (the other 4 boxes) are absolute bargain for £12. Expiry date varies from the end of June till October.
I will keep them for presents and I am very glad I got the hamper as I was going to get Thorntons chocolate boxes but now I saved money. HTH
