As a seller, 99% of the time I leave feedback when someone has paid.

As a buyer, I leave feedback when I get around to it unless a seller leaves me feedback first

I have 100% feedback as a seller and a buyer in nearly 500 transactions so the arguments for not leaving it don't stack up in my experience

    Can I referee this one.....

I always feel sorry when a new user starts a thread about feedback and then gets the usual pages of arguments. JammyGal, it is nothing personal about your post which was a perfectly valid one ,and don't think we are harsh on here but I agree with what FloFlo says and suggest that you look for past threads here about feedback, and you'll see what I mean.

The only answer you really need is that you leave feedback when *you* want to, and if you don't want to leave it then don't.

sorry to ask boys and girls but is there a point in which you dont HAVE to leave feedback for a buyer/seller??

ive sent messages to people ive sold to asking for them to leave me feedback and a few have which is great but others havent - is it something like 90 days after the auctions finished ?

Never ever ask for feedback, it is considered a nuisance by many ebay uers, myself included, and you might not like what you get.

No one has to leave feedback, if they don't then just move on. Ebay say you have up to 90 days to leave feedback, in practice it can be way beyond that.

You never HAVE to leave feedback - it's voluntary!

Soo can we have a sticky that just points or links new members to the most commonly asked questions. Especially the ones that end up in a fight.

Mind you I think many of us like a good scrap every now and again, livens the forum up a bit on quiet days....;)

People do ask about sticky posts, but we'd need so many I wouldn't know where to begin. Feedback , is paypal safe? How do I do a chargeback ? etc..I had thought of askign the mods if we could have one sticky with all usual answers, but I'm not even sure that would work as none of us can ever agree what the 'usual' answer should be. Whoever wrote the sticky would just put their interpretation of the rules and we'd still argue.

I'd welcome suggestions though on how to get round this and the best way to aid new posters!

I feel I have to throw in my tripence worth in too. I always left feedback when the item was paid for but recently changed to leaving feedback after buyer has left feedback - because there are a few buyers who just leave negs without contacting you first for the easiest of things to sort out. I also refrain for leaving feedback if someone has asked me to leave feedback when I am a buyer.

I think that feedback should be compulsory because "how do you know the transaction is complete or not?" and how do you know if the buyer has received their item? They could come back in a month’s time and say, still haven't received it and want money back! By leaving a feedback, it can psychologically feel like the transaction is complete and everything is done and dusted. An extra feedback added onto your score.
