What do you do at the weekends?

When the weather is a bit better we go to parks. We are lucky we live close to Sherwood Forest and other country parks so we spend quite a bit of time there.
Otherwise we go to the library, look round the charity shops or make cakes. We sometimes go swimming at our local pool.SPC #1813

Living right in the city centre with shops, pubs etc all a few mins away, it's v tempting to go out spending all the time
My solution is if I feel like shopping, have a browse round charity shops or flea markets you can loose a whole afternoon and spend either nothing or very little.
Free museums or activities, most towns/cities regularly have things on so check local press you'll be surprised how good some things can be.
And for foodies I agree with the previous post M&S or tesco Finests meal deals are a great way of treating yourself at a fraction of the cost.
Lastly if you have kids all the above work but a great one is cinemas! Most will have a cheap film on earlier on a weekend or school hols.... Vue kids club is usually only £1.50 instead of the usual £5-6 total bargain with all the excitement.:j0 -
I usually do some exercise at home as my gym is closed at the weekend, read, sew, do homework (oh the joys of evening classes!), cook and plan meals for the week, shopping (usually groceries in supermarkets I have to make a special journey for) and taking a walk. BBC iPlayer and 4oD are great for me since I also catch up on documentaries I've missed as I don't really watch TV in the week.
Being fairly quiet I don't go out much, plus I don't like spending money on drinks and expensive meals, but this weekend I'm going away to see friends and we're having a poker and pizza night, not playing for money and everyone just chips in for pizza. Should work out quite cheaply as I booked train tickets in advance and my friends are on a budget too.

My weekends vary, but more often than not, I end up with a free Sunday, which I use to potter, literally: I make pottery. It's so satisfying and I don't get the chance during the week to make things in natural light. I steal the clay from an evening class I do.

If I'm not doing that, I end up on the internet or just watching TV, which makes me feel a bit guilty, but happy!
This weekend I'll be mainly taking it easy. Am going to hop on a bus that takes an hour to get to another village and take a look around a craft exhibit there, maybe followed by a cuppa in their cafe. Will be a fun little trip on the top deck looking out over the moors, a mini-adventure! If it wasn't for this exhibit, I'd save money and go to the museum using my train pass.0 -
Saturday mornings I read in bed. In the afternoon I go into town and browse around the market. It's quite big so takes a bit of time. The evening is usually spent messing around online, chatting to my housemates, eating & some drinks at home together.
Sunday afternoons I work at a charity shop. Sunday morning usually a lazy one spent reading again, and I'll do my pedicure, facepack and wash and dry my hair so I'm not messing about with it on Monday morning. In the evening I talk to my parents and make something for dinner, as well as getting my stuff organised for the next day.
I have just started learning the violin again after a good 15 years break, but it is rare I get the house to myself on a weekend to get a good practice session in, so I play early evenings on weekdays instead.Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0 -
I like this thread My weekends usually consist of me getting up at daft o'clock with 2 year old whilst OH is catching up on his beauty sleep i.e. snoring his head off. Bathe him , then breakfast and get him dressed. Invariably, we have OH's DS from previous relationship here . Cajole him into showering, prise him off computer. When OH finally emerges , we either go out to town for a wander and get a cheap lunch out or pick up afew bits to make lunch when we get home. Then a little walk to the park or my dads.Back home , try and get everyone to settle down to a family film met with chorus of disapproval from OH and DSS.I end up cooking a proper tea whilst they do what the hell they like. Put pile of washing on,clean up . Eat, get kids to bed - eventually! Sit on sofa, watch TV , maybe glass of wine or two if flush.Saturday sorted!
Sunday - much of the same.Proper Sunday lunch, either at home or at sisters( prefer it at sis's- no washing up and she has alcohol). Get DSS home, get everthing ready for work next day, get LO to bed. Sit on sofa and say where the hell has the weekend gone? Life in the fast lane eh?0 -
This coming weekend we're visiting my parents

First and foremost because it'll be lovely to see them, but I'm not going to lie - a couple of hot showers (we only have a bath
) and getting well fed all weekend will be fabulous! On the up

Sleep !
I am a Civil Servant who works a compressed working week,
This means I do my 37 hours flexi over 4 days (Tues - Fri).(I also do extra flexi to get even more days off !).
I work 7.00am to 17.45 Tues to Thursday and 7.00am to 16.45 Friday.
Its an hours commute each way for me (5 minutes to walk to the station, 42 minutes on the train then 10 minutes to walk to work), so I leave home about 5.45 each morning and get home about 18.45 each night (apart from friday).
This means I dont get much to sleep each night, but its worth doing to be on permanent long weekends ! - done it for 3 years now and wouldnt go back to doing 5 days a week unless I had to !.
On a Sat/Sun/Mon I meet up with my retired dad for a coffee & chat for about an hour and we put the worlds to right !.
I then get home and post here on MSE and other sites !.
All activities which are free (apart from a modest contribution to the coffee costs !).0 -
I simply stay home and  with my girl, mostly what is in the refrigerator and watch a movie or play our PS2. Later in the evening I take walks with her. Hope that helps0
