What do you do at the weekends?

I know a lot of people are on strict budgets with not much allocated for leisure/entertainment. Just wondered what people do at weekends in that situation? Looking for ideas and chose this board rather than families because I'm specifically looking for low cost things to do.
We are childfree and will stay that way, I guess kids' activities take up some weekend time, depending on season.

I work most weekends as I do shift work, but on my days off outside of the boring necessities of housework I'll go out walking in the countryside near my home, or find free museums/exhibits in near by towns or just go spend my time off with my boyfriend at his, mostly we'll sit and read or watch tv but its a change of scenery (he's trying to get debt free too so we do tend to encourage each other in avoiding going out spending too much on 'frivolity').It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

What sort of things did you spend your weekends doing before you were trying to cut down? That might help people suggest ideas.
E.g. if you used to spend money on going to the gym or sports then maybe taking up a free sport would suit you (running and cycling for me).
If you used to like to go to the cinema then home cinema nights with a popcorn and cuddling on the sofa with a ban on phones and computers might be for you.
If you used to like to go for expensive meals out then maybe spending time home cooking / experimenting with new styles of cooking etc would be enjoyable.
If you used to go out drinking with friends then what about inviting friends round with a bring a bottle option?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

How do we spend our weekends? We mostly argue and wind each other up for the majority of the time...we usually have sex in the morning and evening. And most weekends we have friends or family staying over, so there is a lot of eating involved. All guests are required to bring fruit, cakes, chocolate and/or alcohol (unwritten t&c). Relatively cost effective and always within budget. On a personal level, when it's not raining I cycle about 40-50 miles Saturday & Sunday along the river or canal to keep fit.
God I love her!I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job

lol, me toooo! And I LOVE IT!
Weekends for me are about completely vegetating in the day time (listen to music, watch foortball, play playstation, eat and drink lots), and then seeing how much beer I can drink in the evening when out with my friends.0 -
well this thread definitely makes me feel better about not going out all the time!
I sometimes make jewellery if i’m in the mood. I had to find a new hobby (it used to be photography but now i do it everyday as a job which sorta sucked the fun out of it lol).
Probably spend to much time on the internet but i like finding documentaries and films to watch.
Chores - cos there is never enough time in the evening!
I like walking if the weather is nice
Museums every so often :-)
My new thing on a friday night is coming home, taking a hot bath, glass of wine, cook some dinner and settle down to a good film. I try to avoid town and binge drinking as much as possible now.... did far too much of that in uni and it got boring very quickly! lol0 -

I hope you have thick walls, otherwise I pity your family and friends! :rotfl:0 -

I love the honesty in this post!
So often people at work say "what did you do this weekend?!" and sometimes it can actually be a struggle to answer - had a nice enjoyable couple of days, but didn't exactly climb mount everest or take a trip to vegas!0
