There was a time when banks were not allowed to take benefits money to pay for overdrafts if it meant leaving someone at risk, I don't know if this has changed though. They can, and do, often take it and you have to phone them and tell them they will be making you homeless and they can refund the money and work something out with you.
As I said this used to be the case so I would look into it further to check it out.0 -
I don't understand how you can be bankrupt and still have an overdrawn account.0

I'm not sure it this would help but if you google, right of appropriation, you may be able to access some of this money?

Phone your council who pays the benefit, advise them your bank account is now closed due to bankruptcy, they will stop further payments and send you a giro which you can cash at the post office. They will only do this until you are back on your feet, get into HBOS or santander and try for a basic bank account to help you out.0
