My fiance proposed on our 3rd anniversary in a gondola on the grand Canal unde the Rialto Bridge in Venice. We are getting married on 07/07/07 - our 5th anniversay together. Cheesy but cool, esp with the anniversary dates etc!

Well, the plan has been Florence for the last few weeks. I'm waiting for her to give me her shift patterns for the next month, then I can sort something out.

The Amalfi coast has been recommended to me also by a colleague, but I think you'd need a car to get around and that'd be a bit of a bigger hassle.

    Thanks all

I'm going to be in Florence week after next - just having a break with my wife. She keeps telling me the long-range weather forecast is for belting it down :-( but with any luck it'll be better by the time you get there.

Only sending this to say that if you look at carrental.co.uk and Bluewheels and SixT, you should be able to pick up a car, at the airport, and they're pretty cheap. I never have any hassle; and it makes a quick day trip to Pisa (for example) dead easy. If your drop off time is out of hours, just lie about it when you book. All the agencies have places for you to leave your keys out of hours; but most of the online bookers won't accept a booking that ends at 5 in the morning!

If you get a chance - do Lucca. WAY more romantic than Florence, and only an hour's drive away.
