Kurio 10 Tablet bought at Christmas - Not working properly

I purchased the above at christmas from toys r us. We are always having problems with the internet pages freezing, not a problem with our connection.

I really want to take it back to store but I can't find the reciept (I put it somewhere safe!) and I used love to shop vouchers to purchase. Will the store give me a replacement or a refund.

The receipt is proof you purchased from Toys R Us. Unless it's an exclusive item then you are going to really struggle to prove it was bought from there, and when.

I would start searching for that receipt, pronto.

Had you purchased by another, traceable method it might not have been a problem.

Is there anything on the packaging, assuming you've still got it, that shows it was from there? (when you buy from Argos, boxes usually have Argos codes on them).

It's always worth retaining receipts for electricals - I (usually) staple mine to the instruction leaflet. Just in case.

what we do is place the recipt in the box after we have taken the item out and then place the box in the loft, so if the item has a 2 yr guarantee we know where the box and receipt is if anything goes wrong

Equally a good system. For me however (who cannot haul herself though the hatch and has 'loft ladder' on the wish list;))since I keep a box file of Instruction Leaflets it's not hard to add the receipt to the leaflet. Plus, the box file is right behind me and it means I can put the box in the recycling bin.:D
I also scrawl the DATE on the instruction leaflet...

In addition I shove key receipts in an envelope (nothing special, just labelled 'receipts' and the year). ie receipts for xmas gifts for others. Odd times I have had to trawl through and find one but it really is very little effort to stash them.

It really IS worth having a receipt storage system...even clothing items can develop faults after purchase. (ie when washing) mind you if you are a teenager it's also worth having an arsey mum (that would be me) to go into the clothing shop and scowl because the t-shirt you bought developed holes after washing. Arsey mums who insist the instructions were followed to the letter tend to be believed without question. Or who take goods back to Argos muttering phrases like 'not fit for purpose'

    ;)

  • Thanks... I usually do put my receipts in the same place in my box file, but for some reason (??) I didn't put this one there. I could kick myself!!

Item is only available at 10 retailers in the Uk, have just checked packaging but nothing identifying toys r us.

Looks like a fun day for me tomorrow trying to locate the receipt.

If the other retailers don't have branches locally to you then you *might* be in with a chance.

If you cannot find the receipt though don't give up hope; if you can tell them when the item was purchased the *might* be able to find it on their system...fingers crossed you don't get an arsey SA/manager - the more reasonable you are when you go in (and I would try, if I were unable to find the receipt) the better your chances are. If you are going for a refund then you *might* have to accept vouchers, if they are offered anyway.

    Good luck.

(And hope you find the recipt first);)

  • Thanks... unfortunately another store local to me. I did use £450 worth of vouchers on that day, so purchased other items alongside the kurio tablet.

As you say a lot will depend on the store approach, so hopefully I will find the receipt, then the ball is in my court then! I think I will give the store a call and see what response I get.

Don't ring - go in there if you possibly can - easier to fob you off with a phone call.

    Start the convo

'On (date) I spent £450 L2S vouchers with you and I bought...unfortunately (etc)'

if you used £450 of L2V is it not possible you got xmas gift for someone else on the receipt and gave it to them incase their item was faulty. or worse still the sales assistant just placed recipt in bag and you displosed of bag not thinking.
  • Just to update...

Rang toys r us this morning, explained the situation and they were very good told me come in and they would trace the transaction. I went, told them the date, time and amount I spent.

The good news is that they gave me a new tablet without any issues and issued me with the store transaction number.

The not so good news is that if this one is the same they will only give me store credit, anyone know if they are allowed to do this considering they have found the purchase on their system.

    Yes, they are.

Most stores will only give store credit if no proof of purchase can be shown.
(the fact that others do it, does not confirm that Toys R Us are doing the right thing.) :D

They did not even have to look up the transaction, so I would be extremely grateful for their generous offer.
