of course we should let them vote ...

We need to be able to blame all the idiots for voting whichever the present lot are who are in .
Any less than 50% and we would struggle to say it was just the idiots who voted for them ..

By definition they are a good measure of IQ. Some people think that so called emotional intelligence -- essentially brown-nosing and politiking ability -- is just as important. However I think we need people to run things who can think and act logically and rationally, and solve problems, rather than those who are good at pretending there is not a problem in the first, or allaying blame elsewhere if that fails.

Perhaps it should be an entry requirement for parliament and local councils.

As you say they are a good measure of IQ for which there are numerous versions.

Neither IQ or EI will mean any semblance of common sense and actual ability to make things happen in a practical way.

Democracy is the least bad system we've tried so far, but it's far from perfect.

As 50% of the population have an IQ of 100 or less, and such people are essentially incapable of comprehending some of the more complex issues facing society, particularly issues where the evidence supports a counter-intuitive conclusion, wouldn't it be better if passing an IQ test above a certain threshold was a prerequisite for voting?

Or is it the case that we should continue to rely on Politicians being able to dumb down debate so that a majority of voters can understand, even though this leads to the nuances and subtleties of important issues being lost, and encourages partisan conflict and 'rabble rousing' styles of communication?

Perhaps that is why he favours mass immigration.

Type of work that can be accomplished:
    • Adults can harvest vegetables, repair furniture 60
    • Adults can do domestic work 50

    Why ???????????????????

Perhaps because it is set up to give a read out on a scale of 'IQ'. The relationship between IQ and intelligence (what does 'intelligence' cover anyway?) is something different.

Fair enough but as you say is IQ the same as intelligence even though the name implies it is.

That's what I meant. Does it have any relevance to anything or does it just mean someone is good at word association? I'm pretty sure you can train yourself to get better at IQ tests - does this mean you have become more intelligent or just better at taking the test?

Isnt this one of the issues with current GCSEs and A levels where pupils are allegedly taught to pass the exam rather than actually amass and apply knowledge?

Bad idea. Politicians shouldn't be able to pick and choose who gets to vote and not should anyone else.

There are plenty of people with lower than average levels of intelligence that have made huge contributions to the UK. Just look at the Parliamentary back benches for a start.
