  • Hi MummyEm
You're making such great inroads. We started off at roughly the same level but you're waaayyyyy ahead of me now. I'm still chipping away though. Target set for next year at £3,300.
Happy New Year and well done.

I've always tried to OP something even if it was tiny and have gradually built it up. You're doing great with your OPs. The trick for me has been to OP extra income and additional income before we get used to having it around as we would only spend it!

    Current position

    Start 2015 £263800.00 End 2015 £252000.00

    Target OP 2016 £7800 / £650 per month

Have £18000 still on family loan £1500 saved for next installment so £3500 ahead of schedule.
The agreed date to repay this is end of 2017 but I would love to get this cleared in 2016.

Aim for this year is to OP £650 per month then any extra can go to the loan pot (along with the standard £800 odd per month).

Also have some extra saved towards a big holiday this year though half hoping to convince DH against this...

Also have done quick calculation re my dream end date of November 2025. Currently would need to OP £1275 p/m in order to achieve this. Not happening currently but would be achievable without the loan repayment. Will be interested to see how much will be required once the loan is repaid... Perhaps not so completely I achievable after all...

Other things to still consider ... Pensions! Or rather our huge pension shortfall. One to finally tackle in 2016? DH's work pension scheme is due to be changed this coming year which could go dramatically in our favour. Awaiting to see what is announced on this so we can make decisions with the full information.

    Fairly productive day-

-beef stew cooking in slow cooker
    -cut DH's hair
    -two lots of washing done
-meal plan done for this week
-online shop ordered for delivery tomorrow
-op made of £4.51 as used this much in vouchers towards the shopping. I was also slightly under budget but will keep that to one side in case of top-ups or if I go slightly over in other weeks

Total OP needed to hit Jan target £269.81

Busy few days with DH and I back to work and kids back to school- glad it's Friday I must say!

No major developments or OPs but little things that build up to more this week
-kept away from shops except to get fuel for car
-stuck to meal plan despite us all being tired and really not wanting to cook
-spent an hour listing some items on eb@y which hopefully will make some money to add to this month's OP target
-lots of post Christmas clearing out underway. Have a big boot full to get to CS
-cold but lovely walk with a friend to blow away the cobwebs

Lazy evening planned watching a film with the kids in front of a fire- can't wait as really cold here today
