Telling Family/Friends about wins

I'm very choosy who I tell about wins now. Some people are obviously jealous and others look at you and say "really? you won it?" as if I'm lying.“Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick, and pull yourself together.” Elizabeth Taylor0

These stories are interesting.
Ive never given it much thought about telling people. I tell DH straight away as Im excited and just cant keep it in. He does often ask if Ive won him anything, but I know he is joking. I only really ever mention any wins if they are something exciting. I told my mum about my years supply of toilet roll and she (of course) expected some. I would have given her some too, but they came as vouchers.
I dont really like to mention how much time I spend comping (or how many I enter) as I dont think non compers really understand why anyone would want to sit on a laptop all day entering competitions (just in the same way I wonder why people do their hobbies such as fishing). They also feel as though no-one ever wins these things so why would I?
I certainly dont brag although the odd thing Ive won I couldn't help putting on FB such as my £100 boots vouchers or my merlin annual family pass. But mostly I win without letting anyone know.Current Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday
Best Wins: Ipad, Nintendo 3DS, £400 Shopping Spree at LK Bennett, £100 Boots vouchers
Total Wins (Since April 2012) £3442.56
Big thanks to all who post comps :T:beer:0 -
I can't keep me gob shut and am so excited with my wins, everyone is happy for me, with the exception of my great aunt (who is more like a mum) as at her advancing years, she cannot understand why people try to win stuff instead of buying it! She didn't complain at her lovely new Nokia, her massive bouquet, skincare sets, and emergency alarm she now has for free! To be honest I quite like winding her up with my wins :rotfl::rotfl:I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

My husband thinks it's great though all the DVDs or Blurays that I win just go in his DVD/Bluray collection which is fair too big already. My best friend thinks its great and has won a competition herself because she thought of me and my wins (she doesn't normally enter them but she thought why not!). She won tickets to see Liverpool play she loved it!
Sometimes I'll mention it on Facebook to sell/giveaway the item if it's a runner up prize that we don't want or need.
I've been a little more cautious on mentioning my wins since I've been on maternity leave as I have more time now and have been winning more and better prizes. It's one thing if you're winning the odd DVD but when you win Xboxs and things like that people just get jealous even though they could enter the competitions just like I do but they can't be bothered to invest the time.March Wins

I always tell OH but only tell the rest of my family of some wins. They would be happy for me to give them things i have won but pull their faces if they know a birthday or christmas present has come from a win even though it could be worth a lot more money.
I always tell my friend from over the road and she is always happy for me. I also have some fab comping friends on Facebook who i will tell.0 -
I tell my OH instantly whenever I win something. I'm always too excited to keep it to myself!
My family are always telling me that i'm really lucky. It's hard to explain to them it's actually a lot of hard work and takes a ton of time (but is still enjoyable) If they knew how much time I spent they would probably say it's a waste of time.
My OH just understands that i'm crazy and goes with itRedundancy isn't fun - comping is!

There are a few close friends that I tell about most of my wins and they are all really excited for me! I don't tell them to the extent of what comping involves but a few more of them are getting more and more interested in what I am doing as they think I'm lucky so would like to try too!
I tell my family and other friends of really great wins and all seem happy for me.
Whenever I give gifts away friends are so happy that I have, not caring that I have won them. Saying that a lot of them got excited when I gave them a bag of haribo'sMy new year's comping resolution is to spend more time entering the 'Effort competitions' properly!
Thank you everyone who posts comps and participates in the Forums :T0
