Broadband & phone package - advice needed

My Mum has finally decided to invest in broadband.
She wants a package that:
Includes daytime phone calls and line rental
She is not in a cable area and doesn't want tv
Modem is not an issue as she can have my old one.

Any advice greatly appreciated, especially companies to steer clear of. So far iv'e had a bit of a look at Virgin and Talk Talk.

Many thanks

Lou

    Hi Lou78,

    How about Direct Save Telecom(DST)

For £26.90/month you can get your line rental included, Free anytime calls, 8Mb speeds and Unlimited usage. Also this will include discounted rates on overseas and mobile calls.

There is a £40 set up fee but you will get a rolling one month contract so she won't be tied in for twelve months :T

    Check the T&Cs carefully.

If you were to sign up for Broadband and Phone and then leave after a month you'd end up paying something like £135 in total (£40 signup fee plus £26.90 (broadband and phone per month) + £50 fee for leaving Broadband early + £19.50 fee for leaving Phone service early).
  • Have just changed from DST. Would not reccommend them at all. Very poor service, terms & conditions that scrfew you when you try to leave.

Tiscali do such a package, but I have no experience of them.

    Steer clear of PlusNet.
