So Im NOT the only person with a teenager who smells like gone off beef stew, who leaves all sorts of rotting food about his room _pale_ , & has to be FORCED into the shower at gunpoint? Phew! Thank goodness for that ... I thought I was doing something wrong. ;)

I thought raising a teenage girl was bad enough, with the make-up she didnt need to be wearing, the summer clothes worn in mid-winter, & the PMT ... but at least she was CLEAN.
A well balanced life is a glass in each hand ;)

scrub and flip the matress often. Teenage boys like getting hot and sweaty under the covers on their own, if you know what i mean ;) I know i did (around 5 to 10 times a day if i remember rightly)

Wow! I'm the odd one out here, we can't get our 15yo DS1 OUT of the shower! He spends at least 30-40 minutes in the shower every morning, another 20 - 30 minutes doing his hair, he washes and irons all his own clothes and is always immaculate. His 12 year old brother however is the usual horrible teenage monster in the making and more than makes up for him...
  • Thanx so much for all your replies, seems that bicarb is the option or putting said teenager in washing machine/peg out on line.........hmm perhaps adoption may be the answer :D

If he pops a homemade quiche in the oven, time to go Hmm ... ;)

My teenage brother was the same ... his room used to smell horrible, and was always full of dirty cups, plates, glasses, pizza boxes ... It got to the point where even he wouldn't clean because he swore he could hear things moving. However, we finally got him to do a big clean and it smells so much better - we've somehow also persuaded him to change his bed weekly and throw all of his dirty washing out. Having a girlfriend who refused to go in his room till he cleaned it was a huge help too lol.

Sounds like a lovely young man quiche or no quiche:D

We have to stick our 11yr old DS in at gun point, but at least his stinky elder sis now showers regularly and sometimes remembers to change her shirt fo school:rotfl:

I think romantic interest in either sex encourages washing to a degree!

Agree with the stinky bedrooms though both kids PHEW!-they always leave doors tight shut, day and night though- a person could gas themselves!

Definitely no quiche:D He can't win though as I moan he spends too long in the shower or geling his hair! His room isn't too bad but he goes to Thai boxing and I couldn't begin to describe the smell from his gym bag (and yes, he gels his hair before he goes boxing)

Tip for the winter - put some essential oil on a piece of cotton wool and rub it on the radiator. I have heard some people use them on light bulbs but I'd be scared of it shattering (and I don't think energy saving bulbs get hot enough to make a difference.)

I'd do the bicarb thing. And on the mattress too, then hoover it up.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

The joys of teenage boys!!!! (My 17 yr old is the same, we have pitched battles to get him in the shower more than once a week! How he's kept his girlfriend for 2 years is beyond me!)

glad to know we're not the only ones!:D
