    Yes, yes, yes

Rain last night at last - not much though, only 2 inches in the water butt, but more forecast for tonight though. According to my local paper, as of last week, we had not had rain for 6 weeks, which is a bit of a record.

And....my second water butt arrived this morning, one of the bargain ones from my water company. Does anyone know how to go about connecting two together? Do I need a special kit of some kind or can I make something myself?

I know why it rained - because i put up a new climbing frame and slide for my nearly 2 year old son in the garden - so now he can't use it when it's wet but he wants to!

Still my grass seed will be grateful!

You can buy a connector from Wickes. They are about £4. You can just use a piece of hose, shoved into both butts, but you might get leaks unless you put some silicone sealant round it.

Can you believe the cost of those "Marley" downpipe connectors (to water butt) about £14 ! For a plastic downpipe fitting and a piece of flexi plastic hose 60cm long!

I'm amazed no other manufacturer has not seriously cut the cost of these things.....I'm not buying a Marley one... I'll make my own if I have to!

All this rain, I now have 3 full butts...I went to buy another but the guy wasn't in (he sold me blue barrels for £3 ea. last year :) )

Jap, poor Kent is in for a battering with wind and rain the next five days. I lost my empty compost bin the other day, it went for a walk around the garden on its own..lol

I am just thankful that my little seedlings are getting the drenching that they need here in N.Kent. I must admit I was getting worried I could see the bottom of my water butt the other day..now its looking nice and fullish.

I never thought I would be so happy about rain! All my seedlings are growing like mad, just from 3 days of watering. My lavender bush has perked up! I'm going away this weekend and I'm so excited about coming back on monday to see how much everything will have grown as it all literally seems to be shooting up before my eyes!

It's a bit much, isn't it? It's not like there are any moving parts. If Wickes can sell them for a fiver and make a profit, it shows how greedy Marley are.
