Hi there - I tried to spend a mothercare gift voucher yesterday but was told it had expired as it was over 2 years old (only just!). I've contacted customer services to complain and ask for a new one, but basically been told "tough".
Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to get my money back?
TIA

I'd imagine absolutely nothing if the voucher has expired.0 -
I would expect you've missed the boat really, unless it doesn't say on the card when it expires? Might be in with a shot then but its clutching at straws a bit I think.Newborn thread member

It says 2 years until expiry, but there's no date so I had no idea when it was bought (my toddler is 2 so I know it can't be much older!)
It just seems very off that you can hand over cash for something, then it's not honoured. I've never come across expiry dates on gift cards before.0 -
I had an expired voucher at mamas and papas - didn't realise they expire but prob on the receipt got with card. They were great and just renewed the card but did have over £100 on it.0

How do they know when its bought then?
Could you write a date on it and try and blag it? Maybe write a date 18 months ago?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -

I guess you could try and speak to a manager in one of the stores but if it said 2 years until expiry then fair play that they don't have to give you a new one. In terms of good customer service it'd be nice if they did however.
Its just the same as the old paper vouchers you used to get, they always had an expiry date on. The only shop that I'm pretty sure has gift cards that don't expire is Ikea.Newborn thread member

Sorry that you've lost out but all gift cards have expiry dates - Martin has spoken about this on many occasions.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

It's normally on the T&C to check it regularly and it's normally 2 years from last use. So if you go in and say "can you check how much is on that please" it'l be 2 years from that date.
They don't print the date on them, but some stores now give a sort of receipt thing with them, I usually give it to the person to let them know the amount.
With all the shops going into administration and gift vouchers not being honoured it has put me off buyingThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
