I don't understand why everyone wants to share this story on FaceBook.
An adult man has gone missing and that is very sad for his family but why share it one FaceBook?
Will people remember the face? What will they do about it?
I just sometimes feel that as a society we get overly emotionally attached to stories that have nothing to do with us.
Sorry, it's just that so many just live their lives via FaceBook and I cannot understand why.
I'll put my asbestos overcoat on now as I'm sure my view won't be popular.:hello:0 -

It would be interesting to know the success rate of Facebook appeals, I'm guessing people will remember the face and report it. It's only the same as missing posters on lamp posts or on the TV. It has nothing to do with people living their lives via Facebook and everything to do with publicising a photograph and perhaps helping to find a vulnerable person in incredibly poor weather conditions.
As for getting overly emotionally attached to stories that have nothing to do with us. I do hope you never need the help of others with that attitude.0 -

Sorry dont agree with you at all, whether we like it or not Facebook, Twitter etc are powerful tools and can be put to good use when something like this happens. Id like to know if it was a relative of yours what you would do??? Surely you wouldnt not post or let other post on your behalf??
As long as this young man is found do we really care in the methods used?
I live very close by and I feel so sad for the family.
Well done Bronnie, lets hope he finds his way home x0 -

I'm 55, I don't live my life through Facebook and Twitter, but I am aware of it's power as a tool
The young man is the brother of my daughter's work colleague, I've got a little time free today and am glad to do what I can to raise awareness.
This man went missing in Wirral last month, he was found alive a week later in Manchester after a huge poster appeal. Raising awareness, in whatever way is valuable.0 -

Hi! had a few days out there over Xmas, popped on the forum briefly, but there's too much nonsense continuing to go on for my liking!! xx0 -

Last week a lovely little Daschund was reunited with her owners via my Sis in Laws Facebook. The dog had been found and taken to a local vets and the picture went around FB in the local area. Within an hour a very relieved owner had collected the dog, thanks entirely to FB posts.
What I will say is we are in danger of becoming complacent with FB and Twitter missing posts simply because so many people are now posting photo's of teenagers with "Missing since last night!" captions. Now when I was a teenager that was a bloody good night out and nobody panicked. These days anyone out of contact for 6 hours appears as a missing poster.0 -
Confirmed it was John. xxx0
