Very very sorry to resurrect an oldish thread but am aghast at the difference in quotes people get.

I wanted something very similar to the OP and am in North Hampshire but had a quote of around 16k!!!!!!! Why can you not get an honest quote from anyone. All three quotes I have had appear to be "post code" based and all ranged from 12 to 16k, and my rom is only 2.9m x 2.4m

Shocking! I know not everyone is the same but its easy to see how you lose faith in the trades, especially if they are dishonest from the outset!

Unfortunately there are contractors/tradesmen around the bazaars who do "price the drive".

Do you have an equivalent breakdown / scope of work for your project that would enable a meaningful comparison to be made. OPs price (on this thread) excluded all the sanitaryware, tiles etc. His total cost could easily have doubled. Did your quotes include these items? The only meaningful comparison is to look at the labour element of the quotes in that case. As far as room size is concerned its the same amount of labour to install bath/shower/loo/WHB. Every room has 4 corners,at least one window and at least one door. From a tiling perspective this is where the majority of the labour goes. The straight runs are a piece of wizz so doubling the size of the room only comes down to meterage for tiling. In reality size of room doesn't come into it that much except where its that small that its very difficult to work in. I did one not that long ago that was only 1.6m x 1.6m with an inward opening door. I had to take the toilet out every morning to be able to work in it whilst the client was at work and reinstall it every evening before I went home so that they could use it. Nightmare.

Although I understand your frustration it could be that your project as you have specified it is a £ 10k+ one but can't tell without making the comparisons and evaluating the quotes.

So if you can post up that information we might be able to set your mind at rest or confirm that you have been postcoded or something in the middle.

    Cheers

PS I think OP on this thread got a very, very good deal for Central London BTW.
