looks like they are tiling floor and wall? can you tell me how many m2 on the wall and how many on the floor?

Some of the prices sound a bit daft. £80 for flexi grout for instance

I would say that for a wet room in Central London that is very reasonable. I guess grout cost does sound a bit silly though, it should probably be half that or less, unless they are using epoxy that is.

backerboards AND ditra sounds a bit strange too, as does £150 for flexi adhesive - of course its all conjecture without knowing the area. i see op has said 8m2.....

ditra matting is for the floor, backerboards are for a small area around the toilet ( on the wall about 1.5m2- 2m2 )

I think the floor is 7.5m2 walls 13m2.

ok. personally i wouldnt use ditra on the floor, i's stick with backerboards. Ditra is a decoupling membrane best for horizontal movement. using a backerboard such as no more ply will remove the need to use a leveller, ditra etc, saving a lot in labour and materials

The supply costs for tiles, adhesive & grout are, i think high, but the fitting is about right.

i'd be happy to quote inc delivery for backerboards, wall tiles, adhesive and grout if you tell me which colour metro you are using. Should save you a couple of hundred on top of the saving for ditra etc.

oh fgs! this is turning into stalking! might have to put you on the xmas card list keystone.

moneySAVINGexpert.....and can deffo save the OP money - there are no links, no quotes, just offering the OP some help along with other more general help.

Surely you agree that £80 on grout and £150 on addy for 20m2 is breaking a few moral laws? Add to that £26m2 for metro and apparently ditra matting is now woven with gold.

OP if you think i'm being inappropriate by offering to save you money on a money saving forum then by all means click the spam button.
If you get a quote from me or anything else your tiles should cost you no more than £18, your grout £10-15 and your adhesive no more than £50. you can get it from me, tile choice, walls and floors, tile town.........just shop about a bit.

Don't be absurd. Just because we read the same threads. And I ignored your last one much as I was tempted to comment.

So I now have to ask what makes you so special that you can regularly tout for business openly but the rest of us aren't able to. The ability to save people money by doing that is quite incidental. If everybody started doing it it would just become a bunfight. Its one of the rules - you don't tout for business, irrespective of saving someone money you just don't do it - capiche?

You frequently give very good advice to give and at a technical level thats what people come looking for. Do you want someone to report you? Someone will and if you are PPRd then that will be a loss to the board. At least I've made an honest comment in the open rather than slyly hitting the spam button. You seem totally incapable of understanding the message though.

Yes but its a discussion board not a vehicle for you to enhance your sales.

    Absolutely.

Oh no - don't you dare involve the OP in this tete a tete.

That is all you had to say.

    Cheers

keystone, i genuinely do enjoy a bit of banter with you, the stalking thing was a joke - easy to take the wrong way in a post.

of course i appreciate the direct contact rather than an underhand report.

the op's post is specifically about their quote, not tech advice. i've answered both.

Its all getting a bit daft though, fake posters pop on here all the while asking for 'advice' so their other alias can post a link, people giving plain bad advice (if i see one more 6mm ply or pva post i think i'll scream), random people shouting about how great a company is (who just happen to be a newly registered business), posts about 'has anyone used x, cos i've heard great things' and no one complains. i post genuine helpful advice and happen to mention that i sell the b****y things and no one complains, except my old pal keystone!
  • I appreciate the info, we decided to buy the grout and adhesive , shower pump and the small tiles ourselves and saved around £700 . So many thanks!
