Hello, I'm not sure if this is in the correct place, if not I'm sure it will get moved!
My Kodak printer recently died. Clearly, I have no idea what to buy when it comes to printers or I'd never have bought that!
I really need a replacement, I've looked around and determined that
I need an inkjet
I'd like it to scan and copy as well
I need cheap inks
I'd like it to be less than £75 if possible
I've looked at ink prices and tried to figure out what to get from that but there is SO much choice and I'm stumped! Some seem to require magenta/yellow/cyan toners and I'd rather it was a simple black & colour cartridge system.
I'm a student, the printer will get a reasonable amount of use, but I don't need to print photos with it.
I've looked at wireless printers, just because it would be easier for storage reasons, are there any negatives to buying one of these?
I'm a bit anxious about buying something that seems to fit the bill and then finding out I can't afford the ink for it!
Hope someone can help!
Best Wishes,
Blue

If you use a tri colour cartridge and print lots of or more of one particular thing, when the predominant colour runs out you have to replace the whole thing, regardless of how much of the other colours remain.
Most printers will tell you when a cartridge needs changing, and a printer will only use cartridges from the set designed for it, such as this
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9371455.htm
Which will only use the T1285 or T1295 sets, the T1295 set has more ink.
Epson printers usually have the wider availability of compatible inks, this is one option, which is a set and an extra black, useful for printing essays etc

If you do decide on it and get it from Argos, check it is a 445W as they have recently been supplying from the Epson XP range instead, which are comparable or better but there are not many compatible ink options for the XP Printers.0 -
Epsons inks are far cheaper than other and have a better range of compatibles
I have an Epson Stylus SX438W and only pay £9 for 3 sets of inks.0
