Dukesy. Please help us stop speculating.

Did you mention a warranty in the ad? Yes or no please.

Is this the vehicle that WeBuyAnyCar offered £1800 less for? Assuming it is, they were of course aware of the problems with these, and therefore offered the lower price based on their knowledge of the marketplace, something that the unlucky buyer who gave more clearly didn't...

No, the car I got an online quote with WBAC for was a Saab 9-5, the one we're talking about here is a Navara.

As for the advert. I have no idea what it said and I can't now view it as it has dropped of ebay's system. I would not have said there was a transferable warranty and the buyer looked through all of the paperwork on buying the car, including the engine warranty stating non-transferable.

In that case perhaps we should assume that you did mention the warranty in the ad.

If the buyer can show this he obviously has a much stronger case.

The O/P has already told us they did NOT mention a 12 month engine warranty in the original advert.

But what would happen if they buyer simply phoned the garage & told them he was the guy who had the engine fitted.......
This would be the best solution IMO if he can pull it off - the buyer gets a replacement engine fitted FOC and everybody lives happily ever after.

Somehow I can't see it happening.

If the buyer paid a premium because of the warranty (perhaps aware of the poor engine design) then I can understand why they are now feeling somewhat agrieved.

Happily on that front it's ok. A quick search on ebay and all the comparable vehicles for sale are priced higher than we sold the truck for. We needed it sold as we had already got its replacement and didn't have the drive space for it, so we accepted a lower than average price for it.

I would never have said that the warranty would be transferable, and I showed him the invoice for the recon engine, that also explained the terms of the warranty on it before he handed the money over to us.

Do you think your ad mentioned the word: "warranty"?
