Private sale, car has gone catastrophically wrong

Is this the vehicle that WeBuyAnyCar offered £1800 less for? Assuming it is, they were of course aware of the problems with these, and therefore offered the lower price based on their knowledge of the marketplace, something that the unlucky buyer who gave more clearly didn't...
£1800 below private sale price would be a fairly typical WBAC trade offer.0 -

I would agree with £1800 below dealer retail Paul, but not generally that much money below private sale price.
In the age of the Internet 'everyone's a trader' these days, private sales are often quite close to trade prices, in my recent experience anyway. And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -

Check out some of the threads relating to WBAC - they're full of examples of people selling their cars for that sort of amount more than WBAC offered them.
Also, dont forget WBAC will particularly low ball on something they dont have an immediate customer for - for example they' probably relatively strong on golf turbodiesels, and not so much on say, petrol jags.0 -
Or has it ...
What if the buyer produces in court a printout of the Ebay listing clearly stating that the engine comes with a 12-month warranty?
How was the ad worded?

Yep, that's the important thing, if the vehicle was advertised as with 12 months engine warranty then there could be an issue of mis-description.
Certainly if I was the buyer that's what I'd be arguing and I wouldn't be surprised if a small claims judge agreed.
Given that we are talking a couple of thousand or more for acomplete new engine vs a couple of hundred for a small claim it's certainly a gamble I'd take0 -
Could you say which post she said that in please?
Yes, quotes below...
The engine was warranteed for a year, but we gave him all the paperwork to look through and keep when he turned up to pick the truck up, so he should have been aware that it was non transferable before he handed over the money. We just stated facts on the advert.
I honestly can't remember exactly what I wrote, and I can't find the advert anymore as it's dropped off my ebay lists. I wouldn't have written that the warranty would have transferred on to the next owner.0 -
Should be OK then.

You actually removed the bit where she said it...

But what would happen if they buyer simply phoned the garage & told them he was the guy who had the engine fitted.......Never Knowingly Understood.
