Wednesday 23 January - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :money:

Hi everyone. It's my day off but lots of running around as usual. I'm spending the day at DD's house as it saves a lot of diesel and it's also warmer than home!

A nice peaceful NSD here today. At this rate, I'll have a small bit of my monthly 'spends' allowance left to put in my little secret tin :-)
-Heating off downstairs until 5pm.
-Upstairs heating all turned down now that laundry is dry.
-Did ironing & remembered tip I think I read on here about unplugging iron for last couple of items to save electricity. It worked so thanks, whoever it was!
-Lunch is soup I made yesterday in slow cooker.
-Dinner from freezer, something from my after-Christmas big batch cooking day.
-Checked for surveys & did a couple. Almost at cash-in point but going to wait as I like the £30 Debenhams giftcards more than the £15 Amazon, etc.
-Treating myself to an afternoon of reading & knitting.
Wish the snow would melt so I can get going in the garden....doesn't seem possible that I'll be sowing chillies, tomatoes, cukes, aubergines, etc, next month. Must remember to check my propagator is still working.....was a cheapy, but very good!
Have a good day everyone. I must say that everyone seems very friendly on this thread.

Hi :hello:
Thanks for all your lovely wishes yesterday. Today I've:
Called Tax Credits to tell them that my OH and I are not separated. Don't know where they got that idea from?! We are very much together and very much in love, and also aren't receiving Tax Credits just now as I earn "too much", so it was a bit of a surprise to hear from them that I have left my OH and we will be required to pay back all of the £0 we've received this year from them unless we tell them where I am now living?! Used SayNoTo0870 to get a cheap telephone number and to set the record straight. (Link)
Read paper online. (Scotsman link)
7 hour shift at work. Didn't sign up for overtime; too tired and mine isn't the type of job you can do half-heartedly.
Packed lunch from stores; tuna and sweetcorn sandwich.
Read Martin's email. (Link) Will go for the free Shop Scan and Save lunch offer mentioned near the bottom.
Turn down brightness on mobile phone screen to conserve power.
Watch DVD borrowed from neighbour.
Took my first bath for two months!
Herbs and lettuce growing on windowsill from seeds.
OFFERS:
Sure/Dove deodorants 50p in Boots? (Link)
Buy non-sustainable fish in Sainsbury get sustainable fish free. (Link)
Free Drynites sample. (Link)
Morrison's BOGOF offers. (Link)
Two £10 gift cards for £15 at Argos. Two £20 gift cards for £30 at Argos. (Link)

In tomorrow's Daily Mirror - 50p- a coupon for Free Pedigree Dentastix or Whiskas Temptations at Londis or Budgens. See post #9. (Link) Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Today I have only spent money on necessary shopping (£5.18 to be exact) and I have earned approx £25 in cash back by registering for 2 credit reports which I will cancel subscription to once i'm brave enough to look at them!
I have also had two previous no spend days and I have registered for the 2013 challenge to pay of £6000 worth of debt this year.
Not bad considering it's only 4pm
