Allotment Wars

I always thought allotment owners were nice quiet people. But after watching this program I am now thinking differently.
There are some strange people on them allotments.
The only one that seems normal is the poor bloke they chucked off. Maybe him being normal was the problem.
Am I the only one that now finds allotments frightening places ?

I watched the last part of it... they were worse than kids in a playground..
I used to have an allotment a few years back.. ( not for long) and you could see the people had allotments for years were quite set in their ways... and didn't like 'newbies' it was like they owned the whole lot....and were allways telling tales about each other too you
much prefered the film after it called greenfingers?Work to live= not live to work0 -
I used to have an allotment - I was briefly the Treasurer of the site although I could never get the old boy to hand over the books, and it drove me crazy trying to collect the rent from plotholders. The politics, crop sabotage and outright theft finished me off. Never again. A friend who shared a plot with me still has 2 plots there, and she says it's as bad as ever."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Yes, that is a lovely film. It's a shame that put such good films so late.COOLTRIKERCHICK wrote: »

But back to the allotments, I really thought people just grew veg on them to save themselves some money. The program was a real eye opener. I felt so sorry for the young man who just wanted to grow pumpkins. For 2 adults to lock him in and phone the police when he said he had to collect his son from school was shameful. I think they should have shown their faces for everyone to see.
I don't think they have done allotments any favours. If I was on a waiting list for one, I would want my name removed after watching that.0 -
I have recorded it but I do have an allotment and was the site rep for a year or so and while for the most part people are nice, there was a small minority that made my life hell and really spoilt the enjoyment of it for me0

OMG! I was seriously considering getting a plot, and had contacted a local site. I don't think I'll bother now, I'm a bit too sensitive for that kind of thing, where's the relaxation and enjoyment in that????0

There are massive waiting lists so maybe this programme will have the effect of putting some people off and shortening waiting lists, every cloud as they say!:D0

What is normal though, is it people who watch a programme on television obviously made to show a few negative events in an otherwise positive situation who suck it all up without question?0

Have you bothered reading the other posts on this thread ?
It would appear these strange actions are the norm at allotments. So if you find that the people in the show normal you will fit in well, where ever your plot is.0
