If its taxed until the 31st March is the disc not in the car? They may have cashed in it and its got crossed. So it may not be taxed at all???

Not if it crossed in the post. They wont get any more back if its cashed in now last week or in 4 days time.

I presume you dont have the disc? Then you need to assume its not taxed. I would not use it on the road. Unless you can get it and display it.

Get in touch with the seller.. Ask where the disc is.

Doesn't matter if DVLA say its taxed the offence you will be charged with if caught is "Failiure to display". Doesn't matter if the tax is valid it has to be on display in the windscreen.

is your vehicle registered in NI yet? im assuming not as you dont have the v5c, swansea and ni don't interlink so if your clocked by the police, they will only see the NI system therefore you will flag up as untaxed, and you will also not be displaying the disc so beware. as stated by pp, you can get fined for this or clamped.
