  • I find it interesting that soooo many of these are premium brands!

I adore Lush's Dream Cream. Totally all-purpose, and not "enriched" with a million things you can't actually absorb through your skin. Not mega-cheap but not pocket-breaking.

Also, baby oil. Amazing for removing makeup, even waterproof!

tdmmdi - you may be using a foundation that's too heavy. If you can't blend it with your fingers, it's either the wrong shade or too heavy. Maybe ask at a makeup counter for a demo of how to do it?

2 of my sons use dream cream for their eczema and it is fab, they also use the shower soap version of it too.

My must have would have to be dermablend foundation because it covers my acne scars without flaring my skin up. Also neutrogena oil free moisturiser because it sinks into my skin and feels lovely.

  • teeniepops..re: mememe poppy. Have they replaced it with this?

Lovelyjoolz..I have fancied trying Benefit "They're Real" mascara, however, I was being wary because some products hype can make them disappointing.

Thanks for this. Use both shades! I wasn't clear...Superdrugs have stopped selling mememe products so bought up all the last they ad in local store. Think I can order online, but if they don't have a concession in a store I worry they'll go under.

Benefit do a similar product but its 5x the price!!!

    Thanks Hun x
  • I have big problems when it comes to applying foundations/bb creams ect. I can never get them to blend properly & I struggle getting a nice sheer cover.

I have used a blending sponge, hands, stipple brush & still can't get it to look nice.

    Any tips?

Do you use the proper BB brushes? I find they blend really well, but I got their brushes despite nearly dying at the till! Ha!

How do you brush on foundation? With BB I out a dot on my forehead, cheeks, nose and chin and make tiny circle motions going outward and blend along jaw and down neck a bit. I have the newest Bb brush - it's squatter and fatter than the previous one and it is really nice. I don't need a lot of the liquid either - it soaks int the brush but it still applies well over my skin.

That said, when I've used TOO MUCH liquid, it gathers and does not leave a smooth finish on my skin.

Once I've applied my base, THEN I apply the BB corrector (where needed) and concealed (again using the Bb concealer brush) and then 'blot' those areas with the foundation brush. Then I use Taupe Bb eyeshadow on my brows with the brow brush as mine are blonde then I apply my blusher before the shimmer brick and it gives a dewy look without being too OTT.

I also do my foundation AFTER eyeshadow if doing smokey eyes or more than a slick of colour. It was a trick I got off my SIL. I used to hover a tissue under eyes when doing eyeshadow but she did her foundation after eyeshadow one day and I watched - no smudges or flecks on her cheeks and you couldn't tell.

The able is my 'making an effort' makeup. Day to day I flick on a bit of face powder, mascara and blusher as it takes 2 mins V the 20 mins the above needs. Gives me time for a coffee hehe :rotfl:
  • Sorry..when I mentioned bb creams, I didn't mean Bobbi Brown makeup, it was referring to beauty/blemish balms.

Can you use the Neutrogena sunscreen under or on top of regular moisturisers?

I need a sunscreen but want a product that can be worn all year round in addition to my moisturiser.

I think it would probably work layered over a moisturiser. Though I haven't tried it myself as I'm quite oily-skinned so don't need to.

I get mine from Ebay so maybe the customer reviews on there will help you more?

I can beat that. I use vegetable oil, the same bottle I use for cooking! Baby oil is too scented, and all the posh cleansing oils are just vegetable oils at the end of the day, aren't they? :D

And I have been known to put cooking oil on my nails then wash up in hot water then push my cuticles back - heck it works! :rotfl:

Superdrug's own tea tree facial wash or Lush's Coalface and Olay's good old original lotion are the best combination I've found for my skin.

And for travelling, Primark's cleansing wipes at £1 for a double pack are the business!

  • Ahhh Coalface is amazing - a staple for LARP events. That and a bottle of Asda Smartprice shower gel...hair and body wash and I don't have to cart it back with me, lol!
