My router only has 2 ethernet ports but I have 3 devices I wish to connect. Is there such a thing as a 2 into 1 splitter/adaptor so 2 devices can share 1 of the ports ?
Only 1 device will be on at any 1 time.

Almost all routers have 4 ethernet ports. Might be neater to get a new one e.g. (assuming ADSL)

A hub, or even better a switch (it looks like a hub, but works faster).0

I'm on my 3rd different router in 12 months, finally got one that works consistantly, only trouble is it came from my isp and only has the 2 ports.
I'm happy to go with a hub/switch

you can get them

we had to use them at work years ago as we'd run out of switch space. Couldn't buy new switches as we were about to upgrade the whole lot; so we had to use some like them.0 -

Don't those just allow you to run 2 connections on one cable using 2 of the 4 pairs for each (so enough for 100Mbit max) before separating them out again at the other end?
The OP's router isn't going to deal with having that arrangement shoved up one of its ports on a single cable.0 -
yep they do. but we used them for a while with no issues and it wasn't just one or two! they crammed in a load of new desks so we were using about 30 - 40 of them.
Obviously, the ideal solution is a 4 way router, or a wireless card, or another hub hanging off it.. but it is possible to use a cabled splitter.0
