Lol.. this has to be a troll surely?

Inlaw burns out the clutch.. so the mechanic is a conman?
Fitted 18" to a small car?
Now the engine sounds funny? (no salt doesn't affect them - thats what the air filter is for).

18" wheels on a small car is probably gonna knacker the engine alone. Add to that you admit to doing long journeys... and I'm assuming you or your inlaws put your foot down and your engine won't live very long.

I think you owe your mechanic an apology.

Perhaps the exhaust is blowing, fatigue cracked by the extra vibration caused by very low profile tyres
  • defending teh car here, not the OP :) The coupe is not that small a car, and will take up to 19" wheels without having to roll the arches.
The 1.6 is underpowered compared to the 2.0, and neither are especially fast.
To burn out a clutch on a coupe? That takes effort :) if you are trying to drive the 1.6 like a plonker with wheelspin and the like - that will do it.
One of the things I do know about is the crooked H.

    Of course.

First post. Ridiculous scenario. Logs off immediately and doesn't come back. Posts in slightly broken English.

    Troll.
