Sort of, the difference is that you would have a single ticket all the way which protects you against misconnections (and that usually means you can check in bags all the way as well). Rather than having two flights changes I think I would have considered getting a train to London and then flown direct from there. Less travel time, less risk of hick-ups and delayed/lost baggage. Perhaps something to consider if you ever do the trip again.

trust me, i wanted to go from London!!! but was rushing at the time to book the holiday based on friends saying there gonna book direct, which now turns out they cant go!

so i picked amsterdam, as budget was £700 for the holiday, and this is what it cost doing it this way..... Just wish i used my brain a bit more then!!

I guess though, as long as things run smooth with getting off the plane and collecting bags, i should be OK for using the bag drop check-in desk, and then carry on as normal, utilising the 2hr window i got..... (well, technically 60 mins from landing before bag drop closes at US Airways check-in desks......

Shame i cant get the agents to allow me to book my bags from Bristol onto the US airways plane so i go through as a connecting style flight :(

Perhaps call KL and US and ask them to interline your bags at AMS for you.

Is there a non-schengen to non-schengen transfer corridor/route at AMS?

Do as richard suggests and if that doesn't work, ask in Bristol airport if they will check the bag all the way for you. Chances are they won't but it's worth a shot. Of course, if they do, it doesn't mean you're protected against misconnections but it should give you a bit more time to catch your flight.

    cheers guys :)
I will email the airlines asking if there is the option to do that to save us collecting our bags, guess every little helps and the worst they can do is say no anyway :)
    cheers :)
