    I've missed you DDFW :)

I'm finished work now, :T :j It feels really weird!

I can't believe how quickly the time has gone either, I bet the next 6 months will now too.

Hi everyone, long time no see! :D

Here's me thinking that you had abandoned MSE, Jwil, when I suddenly remembered that you had started a new diary - which I had failed to subscribe to - d'oh!

So now I've found you and you are on maternity leave - how very mega-exciting. I've been thinking of you all this time and I can't WAIT for your new arrival. :j

Hello to everyone else as well, especially DDFW, hope you are all OK.

I have a little bit of news - I got a new job recently, which is fairly local and EXACTLY the direction I want my career to take. I was very pleased to get it and I am enjoying it very much so far.

OH still out of work but things seem to be picking up a bit so I am hoping he is gainfully employed within the next couple of months.

Not much news otherwise - looking forward to spring and getting on with the season's planting and growing. The snowdrops are finally out and all is well. :j

Woo hello Peaceandfreedom! Lovely to 'see' you again, I've been wondering how you are doing

Great news about the job and fingers crossed your OH will get something soon too. :T

I'm looking forward to Spring too, the sunny weather the last day or so has been so nice for a change (though it's thick fog here today).

Well we've been off booting this morning, picked up a few bargains including a complete travel system for baby for £55. It's not been used so very happy with that. :T

  • Morning all :D

P&F :j:j:j Lovely to have you back - i was going to ask after you in my last post but thought that you would post again when you were ready to. - Huge congrats on the job :T:T And i hope Mr p&f finds something soon too.

I've been thinking about the garden too - i'll have to put a fair few hours in to try and move it a bit further along in the direction i want it - its a tiny garden but it takes so much work as am sure fellow gardening fans will understand ;) I think i need to start when the ground is wet rather than semi-frozen as i want to attach a trellis to a fence *kinda* as i can't attach it as the fence is our neighbours and they have been known to remove the panels in order to treat both sides. So i need to dig a little trench to put my trellis in and cover with soil to try and keep it in place  I'll need to cut back a fair few plants too and decide on whether i'm getting rid of some of the just green plants in favour of a bit more colour - all on a budget of next to nothing of course :o Again this might be something for after the OU course i'm on just now

Jwil - very well done on the carbooty bargains - it'll be a few months i think before the one we go to starts up again - probably a good thing as i don't have anything spare anyways.

So what are your plans for your first day off work tomorrow jwil ? :)

I've been looking on cashback sites but there doesn't seem to be anything out there for free trial type stuff hmm...

Excellent, well done. :T We really must take ourselves off to a car boot soon, haven't been to one in ages.

Have you got most of the things you need for your baby now?

I know what you mean about the work in a garden - it's pretty much never-ending unless you have one of those low-maintenance ones, all gravel and shrubs, which let's face it, is not much fun. :D

I look out at my garden every morning, thinking "My GOD, there is SO MUCH to do!". The remains of last year's plants are still out there looking scruffy, though this is good for insect-life to some extent. But it's definitely time to clear up. I have managed to prune the raspberry bushes but that is hardly a glittering achievement, there's only a handful of them. :rotfl:

I have got some runner beans ready to go in, and the greenhouse has kept me supplied with salad leaves all winter, which I am very pleased about. The garlic is growing nicely and the swiss chard is perking up after its winter sleep. I can feel that lovely spring-time excitement, bulbs are poking through nicely, there is actually some sunshine during the day and I am planning in my head when/what seeds to sow. I have visions of those lovely long days in the garden, pottering about with the radio on and a nice cup of tea every now and then. It's so good! :j

I am a bit worried about your trellis, DDFW - is this a full-height trellis? Because I can't see that staying up by just being dug into the soil, it'll be all higgledy-piggledy in no time. Most fences, even when attached to solid bashed-a-foot-into-the-ground posts, end up a bit wonky. It would be such a shame if you grew nice stuff up the trellis and then it all came crashing down.

Have you discussed the whole trellis thing with your neighbours, you might be able to work out a more solid solution. :) Or you could consider one of those sort-of expandy trellis things that attach to the fence and are relatively easily removed - like this one here

I think so - certainly enough to get us through the first few days anyway. We will buy anything else as we need it.

I'm very much enjoying being off work - DH is on leave this week too, so we've been getting out and about lots making the most of the sunshine and our last days of freedom.

However, we are ready now for baby to come and would prefer it this weekend so that DH doesn't have to go back to work on Monday, so can everyone send baby eviction vibes please? :D

He seems fairly comfortable in there at the moment, so it's not looking hopeful.
