Re: Free Family Railcard

Options
I have received my free family railcard in the post this morning
(many thanks for Mrsmondragon for original post)

Unfortunately I am unable to use this as one of the T&Cs are:
Minimum group is one adult & one child between the age of 5 - 15 years old, my little one is 3 years old.

If anyone would like this then please PM me.
(also open to bribes in the way of freebie samples!!! :rotfl: )

Please read T&Cs below to make sure you're able to use it
1. Your trial family railcard is valid until 31st July 2007
2. Offer available to residents of UK over the age of 16
3. Minimum group size is 1 adult (named cardholder) & 1 child aged 5-15
4. Maximum group size is 4 adults (2 named cardholders plus 2 other adults, aged 16 or over) & 4 children (aged 5-15)
5. Family rail discounts are not available on first class fares

Other info:
You can save up to 1/3 on most adult fares plus an incredible 60% on childrens fares
You can nominate a partner, friend or relative so they can use the railcard whenever you aren't together or you can both receive discount when travelling together.

Also if you buy a family railcard online before 31st August 2007 you will save £5 off normal price. Need to enter promotion code on the back of the card & you'll be entitled to purchase a family railcard for £15 rather than full price of £20.

I have just had a quick look on eBay & there are some being sold. I am passing this on purely to be used by a fellow MSEr to save some pennies on days out & not to be sold on eBay.
Don't mean to offend or seem rude, just my T&Cs!!!

you do know dont you that you still can use it? just buy a ticket for the 3yr old with the saving you make on the adult tickets it can be worth paying for a child under 5 I have 3 kids, 2 older and one a toddler if I do go out with the toddler and not the other 2 I intend on paying for a ticket for her to save on the adult prices :)

I don't think they travel for free hun but the letter that came with the card says 'save 60% on childrens fares'

I sent link for the offer to my friend who didn't apply because her son is 4. But I gave her my card last week to do a comparison when getting train to Glasgow. She was cheaper paying for her son and using the card than not using it and getting him free. Think she saved a couple of pounds. So you may be better trying it out.

    Hi,

If this is still available I think my sister could do with it, she has two boys of the right age.

    Let me know :)

    Thanks!

My daughter is under 5, but it works out cheaper to buy her a ticket with the free railcard. Mad! I've never been told I can't buy her a ticket, even if she does travel free. They're not going to complain, are they!
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Current Pay Off Target : £1500

you should keep your railcard as you will still save on your ticket. this is in t & c on the railcard web site

Don't forget children under five travel free and each adult may take up to two 'under fives' with them. If the only child in the Family Railcard group is aged less than five years of age, the Railcard holder may purchase a discounted ticket for that child in order that the accompanying adult(s) can qualify for the discount on their tickets.
