Hub connection problem

I have just fitted my new BT Hub 3, my laptop found the new hub and connected fine, I changed the wifi connection on my printer and did a test print from my laptop ok, unfortunately my new PC using windows 7 says cannot find connection so I cranked up my old PC using Windows XP and that also says no wireless connection.

I am not very technical but have spent a couple of hours trying to get this working can anyone tell me where I have to go to tell it to find my new hub please

Sorry to ask the obvious but is your new W7 PC wireless-enabled?Most desktop PC's are not.
If it is, can you see any neigbouring wireless networks? If not, you may have switched the wireless function off. Check in Device Manager first.

  • As I said earlier I am not very technical and have not used my new PC much because waiting for a friend to come and set up my email but I did use google on it but maybe that was using ethernet cable which I now cannot connect because I have had to move my hub to another room so I can use my laptop in another part of house, I assumed my new PC was wireless because it has a wirelessd keyboard and mouse but guess that might be something different.

Despite a frustrating 3 online chats with BT's technical help part of my problem is solved the old PC is now working using its USB Netgear adapter which was working with the old hub 2 the online chat people were no help whatsoever I said I thought I needed to alter the settings somewhere but all they kept saying was you netgear is defective, I decided to speak to technical help on phone and a brillient lady told me what to alter and the old PC is working, so only got to sort out the new one but as I would need an ethernet cable about 40 feet long perhaps I could try the plugs you can get forget what they are called.

Anyway thank you very much for your help.

No, a wireless mouse and keyboard are not the same thing! In the absence of an internal wireless card or a working USB wireless adapter, you either need to use an ethernet cable (not very practical if 40 ft long though) or a set of Homeplugs.
If you look in Device Manager under Network Devices, you can see if a wireless card is installed.
