Carphone Warehouse
Having some issues with a phone from carphone warehouse - just wondering if anyone else had similar problems.
Took out an iPhone 4S on contract end of October. Phone screen has now stopped working. Took it to Apple and when they've taken it apart the phone has apparently been tampered with and looks like someone has tried to remove the screen from the inside. Now I've got insurance on the phone - I've never taken it anywhere to be fixed and I've defiantly never taken it apart! Wouldn't know where to start! Seems like I've actually been sold a second hand phone but they're obv saying to prove that I haven't done it and they won't fix it!
Any similar experiences?

Is the phone fixed now or not?0

Nope. Apple won't touch it and carphone say there's nothing they can do.0

How can they not touch it, when you wrote "Took it to Apple and when they've taken it apart the phone has apparently been tampered with and looks like someone has tried to remove the screen from the inside."
So at that point they could have repaired all be it possibly with a charge. Problem you have is proving that CPW sold you what you beileve was a previously owned handset.0 -
Yep cos no doubt they'll say I took it somewhere to try and get it fixed and it didn't work so now I'm tryin this. But seriously with insurance and still in warranty why would I bother?! And ok so they touched it but refused to do anything more because the warranty was broken by the 'intentional tampering'0

In all honesty, you don't know what they are going to say, I would question why did it got to Apple rather than the retailer in the 1st instance?
Courts work on facts not assumptions (in the main) , so you can start to see what you are up against, perhaps contact their (CPW or Apple UK) , was the box sealed up n stuff when you accepted the device? I know when I got my ipod touch , it was well sealed.0 -
The iPhone arrives in a box sealed with shrink wrap, was the phone sealed when you got it?
Apple offer an out of warranty repair service with a flat rate of £139 for the 4S, if they didn't offer it, you should ask about it.

If you own an iPhone that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will service your iPhone for the Out-of-Warranty Service Fee listed below..
Model Out-of-Warranty Service
iPhone 5 £ 186.44
iPhone 4S £ 146.44
iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS,
iPhone 3G, Original iPhone £ 126.44
The Out-of-Warranty Service Fee includes a £ 7.44 shipping fee, which applies only if service is arranged through Apple and requires shipping. All fees are in British pound sterling and include VAT. iPhone Out-of-Warranty Service may also be available from your wireless carrier. Pricing may vary.
Proving the phone wasn't opened by an unauthorised third party is going to be extremely difficult if not impossible.
Oh, and the screen on the 4 and 4S is actually removed from the inside.====0
