NPower - No bills

Was just about to resign with n-power when I looked at my bank statement and saw that they had taken out £144 and not the normal £70. We are on fixed income and this sent us into overdraft. When I called I was told that they had done an assessment on the account and put an ESTIMATED reading for the last reading and decided that we owed them money and needed to pay more to catch up. When I asked why I wasn't notified they said that it was on the last bill we were sent by e-mail. To be fair it was on the bill but I really don't bother to look at the bills in detail since we know we will be paying £70/month and I didn't give them a reading in March. The estimate they put in was for 6 months from our last reading and was extremely high. We normally use about 6200 units/year. Their estimate was almost 5800 units used for the last 6 months and they estimated that we would be using at that rate for the next 6 months. We all use more electricity in the winter and a lot less in the summer. To make a long story short they would not consider giving us back what they overcharged us (because they notified us on the last bill) and I did not resign with them. If you do decide to go with n-power be very careful read every bill in detail and don't let them ever do an estimated reading.0

The previous bill was 2 months late, so now they want another payment of £319 where last month I paid £326. I'm going to ask them to give me more time as I don't think its fair to pay £640 odd quid within such a short space of time.
Hi The Bridge,
I'm sure we can look at an extended payment arrangement to give you time to pay this bill, if the delay in the previous bill was a problem our end.
Please could you pop me all the details to forumresponse@npower.com and I can take a look at this for you?
Kind regards,

Hi Bmb,
As a consumer of energy, we all have a responsibility to make sure we check our meter readings and payments. By law, a supplier only has to read your meter once every 2 years.
If you can send me an up to date meter reading to forumresponse@npower.com, I can have your account updated and direct debit re-assessed based on this accurate read?
Many thanks,
