Has anyone else experienced Halfords screenwash - blocking the filters on a windcreen washer ?
My left hand side screenwasher blocked about a fortnight ago - NOT due to freezing - I tried to unblock the jets - but ended up taking the car to the main dealers who told me that it was due to the screenwash, emulsifying in the filter...

I've heard about the washers getting blocked when you don't water the screenwash down enough.

Is it just an issue with the pump not being upto scratch? Or is the screenwash a gloopy mess?

The winter stuff i use is good for -60 degrees C. And it must be pure alchohol or something its very thin.

Been using Halfords screen wash for years, never had a problem. As mentioned above, are you mixing it to the right ratio of water?

Never had an issue in 20 years of driving- or heard of it.
  • Used Halfords ready mixed advanced stuff since I got my car three years ago, never had a problem.

Ahhh now we are getting somewhere, new car breaks and dealer blames screenwash. I don't think the screenwash system has filters (I stand to be corrected though) A kettle of warm/hottish water will flush the cr*p out.
I suppose the dealer wants you to pay for 'new' filters?
Read the thread about the Pergeot (sp) and Sainburys fuel.
  • it is not unheard of, especially if you let the washers run dry the residue dries up - Help is at hand - put 2 denture cleaning tablets in your washer bottle, fill up with warm (not boiling) water and flush it through.
