Cat on kitchen worktop!

Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop my cat getting up on the kitchen worktops???

We've got 2 and only 1 of them does it but I've got no idea if there's any way to stop it so I don't have to clean the kitchen every day!

Thank you

It's almost impossible to stop. Either put up with it or put things on the surface to prevent cat getting up...but then you'll have to clear your work surfaces before you start work in the kitchen anyway so it wont save you any time.

Looks like that's the answer! Just wondered if there was something I was missing! :)

Smear of clove oil on the edge of the worktops? Or citronella? Cats don't like the smell.

Sadly once they start they tend not to stop. When we got our first cat we had the tiniest little kitchen in a flat so he didnt get the chance so we 'trained' him work surfaces were a no go and could enforce it.

Now we live in a house with large kitchen he still doesnt jump up but our 2 yr old cat we got when we moved in does although he knows he isnt allowed to. He knows he will be whooped within an inch of his life if he is caught. I take no prisoners and he had better be faster than me if i do catch him which is VERY rare :p

  • Tin foil. We used to have a sheet that we put over it when we were out and then just folded it to one side when we wanted to use the bench, then got it back out when we were out again...held down with anything on the bench (mugs, coffee canister etc)

My two cats love tinfoil so that would be no good for them, they'd just run of with it :o
