    I posted on this thread earlier, but re reading one thing thats struck me is EMA no longer exsists. It has been replaced by a bursary.
    Some children may still get EMA if they was on it before it was stopped.

    But is OP son is 16 then he wasn't on it before it stopped. I know this because my twins are 17 and it stopped before they was able to claim!!!


    Edited to add I guess OP is in either Northern Ireland, wales or Scotland.
    It appears it's only England where we cant claim
  • I live my dad and I give him £60 a month, which dosen't sound like a lot but I do buy all my own travel(bus&train), pay for my own driving lessons, hair cuts, food, going out etc.

    If I earnt more I would give him more but I am minimum wage slave!

    I very rarely take any money from him.

    My view on it is, If you pay for his social life and other things then take more house keeping. If he pays for this himself them take less.
