Plumber sold business, where do I stand with warranty?

I had a new central heating system fitted the week before Christmas. The plumber that installed it said all his work came with a 2 year no quibble part's and labour warranty. The boiler broke down on Wednesday, so I rang the plumber only to find that the plumber has sold his business and is no longer doing plumbing. The new firm say that any warranty is nothing to do them and anything he offered is between me and the previous plumber. But they will kindly do me a good price on breakdown cover with them though!

Where do I stand with this? Is there anything I can do or am I stuck with having to pay for something I have already paid for when I had the system fitted?

Post on the this section http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=39 and list whats wrong with the boiler as there are plenty of helpful plumbers on there who may be able to suggest a simple way you can fix it yourself.

I suppose it comes down to whether the plumber was a sole trader or a company, and whether the new traders are running the same company, just with new owners.

You need to work out exactly who offered the warranty.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

If the business was sold as a going concern the new owners should honour the warranty. Try the manufacturer if it is under a year old.

CHS fitted to boiler breakdown = 6 weeks (ish). And in that intervening time the supplier has found time to list and sell his business? Hmm.

Contact the boilers manufacturer and give them the boilers serial number. If he registered it they will sort out the problem.
Offering a no quibble warranty is a ruse to make you think you are getting a good deal. Warranty come free with the boiler from two years to sometimes ten.
