I've pressed something I shouldn't on laptop

Options
I'm typing a Word document and suddenly I can hardly read it - the font has gone really small. I've obviously pressed a key I
shouldn't. Even writing this I can just about read it. Can anyone tell me, please, how to rectify it. I'm using a Dell Inspiron Laptop. Thank you,

It's probably fixed by just going to 'view' then zoom in until it looks normal or 'view actual size' or similar.

Thanks both of you. Have managed to get it so I can read it. Wonder if it will stay that way? Printer is now churning out reams of stuff I don't want. Think I may turn everything off for a while and come back to it. I keep pressing Stop on the printer but it seems to have a mind of its own!!

Control + or Control - will do it.

Other than that, have a a look around for what looks like a cog wheel, mine is top right. Click on it and it will give you zoom levels.
Just click on the one you want.

    Been there, done that lol

Having got the font right, it's now coming out in red even though it says Font colour Black!!! What an afternoon this is turning out to be!!

Things are going from bad to worse. On the word document there are now several red rectangular things with 'Formatted hidden'
'Deleted' in them and as I type it is in red and underlined even though I've clicked on the underline thing to stop it and it says Colour - Black. I definitely need some help here please.

There's a feature in Word called Track Changes.

If this is enabled, it shows changes from the previous version of the document in red. So the red is showing you what you've changed, but it still "knows" it's black underneath. Same with the red rectangular boxes which are its record of format changes you've made. That's what it sounds like to me, anyway.

Which version of Word are you using?

Have a look along the top, there should be a capital A with a drop down menu, I think you change your font colour there.

Is this machine new to you then

Ah same as me. OK well this might bear out (or not) my theory.

Look at the Tools menu. Is there an entry called "Track Changes Ctrl+Shift+E", about halfway down? (Note that you may need to keep the menu open for a few seconds before Word displays all the items on there). If so, does the icon to the left look like it's a pressed button?

You probably want it to end up unpressed, which should stop it from showing stuff in red when you type. (But won't fix the stuff that's already changed just yet). But I won't go further in case this is a total red (font) herring.
