Thank you very much for helping me. The long term plan is for me to return to work but it may be a couple of years yetHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

Can you trully receive £500 a week in benefits with one child on dla? Or does that £500+ a week includes tax credits due to lowish pay? It sounds madness that dla would trigger such a high level of benefits on its own. Surely no disabled child requires £2,000 to pay for costs directly related to their disability in addition to what they would be entitled via the nhs/social care?0

Even when I claimed tax credits with a disability premium and DLA for my son it was nowhere near £500 a week.SPC #1813

Ok, I assumed you were asking as to whether the cap included benefits + income from employment. I understand now. It did seemed like a grotesque amount of benefit on the account of one disabled child.0

Well I thought the cap would include income so yes we get a lot in benefits I know that but not £500 per week on top of wages...got my self in a muddle but if what princess don says is correct I think I'm less worried. For UC purposes I though I would have to look for work but I would be unable to ATM due to cost of child are for 3 children and issues related to you youngests disabilities. This will be much easier when he is at full time school in a few years time thoughHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

Even without disabilities and caring responsibilities parents of children under 13 are only expected to seek work during school hours. Carers are exempt. The cap is excluding income.
The positive is that under uc - childcare under 16 hrs WILL be paid so you can look to work 5 hours for example and claim childcare as opposed to 16 hours before they pay it.
For families like yours (even without disability) as you want to work uc should be positive. You don't lose as much in TC for any extra hours etc - keep more wages and get childcare help if a job under 16 hours is available.
This means you could look easier - they are always asking for lunch time supervisors or other jobs in schools for 10 hours a week etc.0 -
When youngest is able to attend more hours at nursery and I look for work it's defiantly a good thing that we can get help with some of the child are. Imassuming there is an earnings limit on that though so may not apt to use if I find a job with a lot of hoursHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0
