Howie,
If you haven't burnt your bridges with the previous company, it may be worth giving them a call and seeing if they have anything. I used to work for a couple of large organisations and it was eyeopening to see people return sometimes.
I contacted them a few weeks ago but sadly my old job isn't available at the moment.
The only thing they have is part time work at the moment.
I have already expressed an interest in this position as a way back until my old position becomes available ... It's a waiting game I suppose0 -

He was told they would sack him if he didn't go back so best to resign as this would look better. He fell for it.
We couldn't get benefits straight away but some compassion was given and we only had to wait a couple of weeks (just took several to come through)
We are still paying for it now as he couldn't pay credit cards, loans etc, but we have a very fit and healthy daughter and at the end of the day family comes first, so just see this as a bonus and enjoy time with your loved ones.
Hope you get a job soon.
Sorry to hear of your experience... The getting behind with cards is the bit that worries me.
After years of not so great credit history I had only just managed to get my credit score looking reasonable0 -
Very little she does 10 hours a week normally at 6-7 per hour
Probably a longshot, I know, but is there any chance your wife could increase her hours/do overtime while you are there to do the school runs?DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

No chance of extra hours she is lunchtime staff. Two hours a day0 -
Ok - her income means you have access to income related top up to JSA.
This is important because it means
Free school meals, council tax, help with mortgage after 13 weeks and also tax credits. If you get income Jsa then tax credits are granted in full (not taken over the year).
The problem is they will put you on cont based so you need to inform them you wish to apply for income based. There are mixed messages on here, some get them reset (ice queen helped someone recently with the section that stated jsa income entitled to full tax credits), yet people are often told no when they ring up. I'd ring them, escalate to a manager and see what the current situation is.
Its a worrying time, I've been there but one positive is the lack of help provides a huge incentive.0
