Best vacuum cleaner for pet hair?

Hi all

I'm looking for a good vacuum cleaner that is good for getting dog hair from carpets, I was hoping for some recommendations or otherwise from fellow MSEers experiences.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • I have a Henry and it works very well on the fluff produced by my 3 moggies although the miele brand is thought to be good at combating pet hair also.

Dyson one is ok for pets but i found they need replacment parts more frequently which did add up and teh brushes didnt last too long, so i got a hoover pure power and its going great and picks up the hairs from our 3 dogs extremley well better than the dyson or the miele cat and dog i had years ago.
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

The miele cat and dog is fantastic. Cocker spaniel owner here in a house with laminate floors, deep pile and sea grass carpets and it deals with them all. So easy just using the vaccum on the laminate instead of the broom and mop and seeing as its a cylinder it gets in and out of all the small places no bother. Downside is it uses bags and at the rate of one every six weeks :( (well in my house anyway)

My sister had this problem until I found an attachment that fits on the hose of a normal hoover. You know those fabric brush things that are like a velour sort of material which you rub over your suit etc. to get the bits off, it was like one of those but obviously with the extra suction it worked brilliantly on pet hairs on carpets! I think it was in either Betterware, Kleeneze - one of those catalogues and cost less than £5!!!! Hope that helps and that you understand what I am trying to explain!!!!

I'd also recommend this one.. it was the 'best on test' in the Which report when I got mine about a year ago.. the only problem then was getting hold of one at the time as they were in such demand!

I first tested it on a large rug that had already been hoovered with my Panasonic 1400w cylinder .. couldn't believe how much more dust it found. My asthma and my Jack Russell now co-exist happily.

I have a Dyson with Hepa filter but never heard of mthe pet thingy! What is that and is it a extra I can buyt separately. I have two cats and though it does a good job I do feel it should be a bit less hard work, especially on sofa and cushions. :-(

We've got a Dyson animal DC07. Only hassel we've was we managed to block the filter with plaster dust after decorating 3mths ago! We've got most of it out now- won't be doing that again.

Otherwise no complaints from us who have one rather hairy Springer Spaniel. It's easy to take apart and clear blockages and the animal attachment is fantasic for hoovering the stairs and sofas.

Price may have come down for this model with the release of the ball. The animal equivelent of the ball is (I think) in excess of £300.
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:

There are many pet hair vacuums out there now, but I have a Dyson root 8 and it works a treat!

Another vote for Miele Cat and Dog. We've had three Dysons- hated 'em all.
