Also if the car gets damaged in anyway won't you have to either claim on the insurance or pay to get it fixed yourself as technically it won't be your car. My last car picked up a couple of scuffs on the back wheel arch from car parks I suspect. They wernt that bad so I left them, thankfully the person who wrote it off completely took all the scuffs out with the damage so the insurance were none the wiser when it came to claiming for it.
  • I have this deal and find it has both its good and bad sides.

On my old FIAT panda I was paying nearly £98 a month insurance for where I live, so having the insurance included is very handy. They gave me an excellent trade in price to considering it was pushing 90K miles.

Also knowing there is only one price to pay monthly for 3 years is reassuring. That said they have just tried to charge me for a "worn part" today after 8 months.

The milage isn't terrible. I have a 10k limit per year and will only just exceed this.

This said however my brother just brought a lovely Volvo C30, hardly used for 9k and thanks to a loan he will pay this off in around 5 years, whilst after three years I will have to either give mine back or purchase it, which means with the latter I will still have another 3-5 years of paying this off, yet with the former, I have essentially rented a car for 3 years.

Am I happy, sure, would I do it again, no, in hindsight I would have kept the Panda and just paid for all of the repairs needed and even with ones I didn't know about it would have come to much less than I have paid so far towards my "Just Add Fuel" deal.

Thanks for all the advice. We have weighed up the pros and cons, and think we're going to go for it. Although there are cheaper ways to "own" a car this seems like a good way of being able to drive a new one without having a large initial outlay. There is also the piece of mind of having the fixed monthly costs and no nasty surprises if a large component fails.

we'll take care of all your servicing, car tax, warranty, breakdown cover and even comprehensive insurance, all for one simple monthly amount over 3 years.

Theres probably a few other makers that cover all servicing for 3 years on their cars.
The reason that works for them is if the car doesnt break, ie. they made it well its a no cost offer for them

The only time I thought this was a good deal type was on a second hand Jaguar offer. The costs there might make it worth the premium but on a new car, it shouldnt need repairs anyway if it was worth buying in the first place

Thats alot for a Panda, was it hot hatch or something. 3600 saved over 3 years might this a decent offer I guess.
I noticed all the Pug cars are 1.6 or less. On a big engine or something with a expensive turbo it could help avoid a big one off cost

The best deal which is almost never seen is a fixed cost loan, so 5 years 0% apr is a big bonus because if inflation went to 10% then by year 5 your payments are tiny.
Try nationwide separately for that idea, you fix the costs and might gain just possibly

Make sure you are careful what 'fuel' you add!

Personally after reading this, I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole!

  • Hi, I too am interested in this offer, hope you dont mind me jumping in. I have heard that the monthly price is dependant on how much it is to insure the driver, so if someone has an unspent conviction (not me, I would like to add) would this greatly inflate the price, or would it just be turned down. Also, is there a deposit that needs paying upfront? And I am a little confused, at the end of 3 years, do you own the car, or keep the car paying an annual fee, so.still a rental really? Also, could you go onto another 'just add fuel' deal with another new car?
