Itunes/Iphone4s problems

Hello

Since the itunes update I have been unable to sync my Iphone4s
I have tried to reinstall itunes and everything else I can think of
I get to the final stage and then it comes up with an error message saying "Itunes could not back up the iphone because an error occured'

I have also noticed that some songs from my playlist on my Iphone have disappeared too. I tried to transfer them over and it didn't work!

Oh I also tried a restore last week and it went so far (black screen before restarting phone up) and it stopped!

Can anyone help?!

Ideally I don't want to have to go to a shop as the nearest one is 90miles away

I thought I fixed it but it doesn't work again!

However if I do a phone reset then syn it works, tried doing a phone reset then restore and it just get to the stage where it switches off and goes back on and stays off!
I'm worried about installing the latest update incase it stays off and won't come back on!
I have also noticed that songs I purchased in Itunes on my phone won't play but they do on my ipad!
Last week I was in Edinburgh for the day and it was down to 40% within 3 hours and I had only sent 5 texts and looked up the tennis score a few times but nothing excessive. Later on that day it was 20% then switched off!! I think a restore would help but I can't get one done.

Please help as its driving me mad!
